'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
Me either, I stopped buying flowmasters years ago. FWIW the single 3" through a 21" magnaflow is manageable through the drivers rear bedside on my SWB. If you swung it over the passenger side and it being further back it would be even better for the driver. I should
also note that I don't have any drone, just a louder exhaust note WOT.
I actually went with a Flowmaster but it's freaking huge. It is quieter than my old Magnaflow with the 350. I guess that's the trade off tho, the Magnaflow is more compact.

The body of the Flowmaster is 5x12x22(28 with inlet/outlet).

Meh, I choose the term "different". That's why I did the Flowmaster, I just wanted something different.

I will say the Magnaflow with the 350 made the truck sound WAY healthier than it was.

After trying to run over a couple spotters this year at Blazer Bash, I decided to remedy the touchy throttle. It required a bit of extra pressure to go and I was having a hard time feathering the throttle.

Many have complained about this on the Sniper forum. I made a 3/4" extension before Blazer Bash but it wasn't enough. I made a 1" extension and it feels better so far.

The other problem I was having is that I had a soft return spring on because of the throttle stiffness and the TPS wasn't always returning to 0. Now I have a little bit stiffer spring and seem to have that issue cured.

Also added 2 more trail stickers to my collection

It has begun.....

Love this birthday gift transmission jack. It will lift the trans high enough to bolt it on the stand. And there's plenty of height left.

First mod done are the cooler fittings.

I have that same trans jack...used it to install my Titan/205 into my blazer...probably one of the most legit HF tools I've ever bought :)

You going to pull the cab off to drop the trans in?
that's my move
Negative. And I'm not meeting you guys at Wade's to help me do it either!

That's cause it's also not one of their cheaper items either. I eyed it for quite some time but just didn't think I could justify the expense. Now that I have it, I realize it is worth the cost IMO.

Realized my earlier photo of the fittings didn't really show much.

These are the Russell straight pipe thread to -6AN adapters. They have a little copper crush washer. I also put some sealant on the threads for good measure. Couldn't find a torque spec for them but I did find 28ft-lbs for the cooler line nuts so I figured they should be at least that tight. I went with 30ft-lbs.

Speaking of investments in expensive tools. This rotating engine stand is pretty handy for transmissions too. Rotating it over to drain the fluid out the @Bent77 hole..... errr I meant DIPSTICK hole. My bad.

Additional FYI. I used 7/16" bolts to attach the trans to the engine stand. My thinking was to get as much support as possible on the bellhousing with bigger nuts and flat washers. The bolts JUST fit though the bellhousing holes.
