So I finally decided to get a smart phone. It came with a vehicle dock that suctions to the windshield, and holds strong enough to withstand some seriously rough rides. I bought Backcountry Navigator and downloaded some maps to use on our Christmas Tree hunt this year, and it works excellent as a GPS. So, then I decided to get an auxiliary power port that will turn on with the ignition to power the phone. I'll install that tomorrow, pending the weather allowing me to do so (we're supposed to get 1" of rain tomorrow.)
Since my stereo was stolen, I used the phone's speaker for some tunes on the tree hunt and realized how much I've been missing music over the last 10 months or so. Thus, I went to a stereo store today to see what a cheap head to unit would run. I wasn't real excited about anything they had, and figured anything I bought stood a good chance of getting stolen because they were all so flashy looking. So I checked the auto parts store to see if they had anything really basic.
Well, I found a tape deck unit with an auxiliary input that was on clearance for $9!
So I bought it and put it in. It essentially looks like something that would come stock, so no one is likely to take it. I only want a radio and aux input anyway, so it couldn't be any more perfect for what I need.
I'll get a pic tomorrow after I get the aux power installed. Should be pretty slick. I'm really excited about it.
In other news : I'm working on a plan to get suspension seats for the truck. I'm leaning towards the PRP Enduro Reclining seats, but am concerned about them not having bolsters that are as aggressive as I'd like. Trying to find a local dealer who has models in stock, but I'll probably buy thru DIY4x because he quoted me an unbeatable price, with seat heat and adjustable lumbar support. I'm very excited about this too, because I think it will greatly increase my wife's comfort, which means she might enjoy wheeling again. The service roads in NV are SO rough, they're bound to rattle your bones loose.

$9 radio

I prefer using the phone to scrolling through the music via USB because I can just click on the music I want rather than having to read a scrolling screen. The car audio place told me that they're starting to move away from aux inputs on stereos because Bluetooth connectivity is so much more convenient.
