91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

If/when Mary approves funds for this motor upgrade ( or she might be more willing if we call it a repair instead ) try and get enough for an extra 1/4” of stroke on the crankshaft and related rotating assembly parts plus some BRODIX oval-ports - and if there’s enough leftover we can go with a bigger cam, the kind of numbers that require them solid type lifters.
Just say’n - if ya’ gonna ask ya’ might as well make it worth it…

Thank @tarussell, he bought the gift for you for everything you do for him. And he was very close for your unique application, we just tweaked it a little is all, you should get your fun RPMs back and the fun sounds you like. :waytogo:

Thank you for including me in this fun project.

My suggestion is to install it at a 105 ICL with that 9 keyway timing set.

Thanks to @tarussell generosity I’m way ahead now.

My current task is to find a nice carb and have it built then get a better intake.

Well, that was not my intention to let that cat outta the bag - truth be told I only got a few parts for John so he would stop taking stuff outta my garage.
The man’s been on a nonstop uncontrolled free shopping spree for over two months!

Yeah, I’m probably going to pull the radiator to flush it with a hose and maybe pull the thermostat and do the same with the motor. Once the water is mostly clean I’ve got some Blue Devil flush to use in it.

When I do the cam swap I’ll probably put a new water pump on it since I’ll have it off.

And, if you are mixing your coolant, do not use tap water.

I worked in parts for a long time and, while I’m sure it’s ideal, using something other than tap water was never discussed ••but•• I’m seeing that mentioned more and more lately. I guess when I do the final refill with coolant I’ll take out a loan and use 5 or 6 of those premix formula jugs.

Tap water with minerals has always been a no go. From when I was a kid 55 years ago. (man I am old) The minerals cause electrolysis and the rust starts. You could change out to an all aluminum BBC and not need to worry about it anymore.:D

Was it mentioned that John needs an aluminum block… it’s ready and rust free!
