91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

I spent some time this weekend finishing up the doors after cutting the frames off. I installed some new weatherstripping and door caps from LMC plus glob welded a tab on the top of the rear window channel to hold it in place, functional windows again (not sure why lol ).

I still need to buy the upper caps/plugs but those are $50ea(!) from LMC which I’m struggling with.

At some point I need to buy some new door panels. These are $25 pull-a-part specials that have been painted and are turning to dust with every touch. :doah:

Lightly sand the door panels blow them off. Wipe them with Acyliclean and give them a couple of coats of outdoor plastic spray paint. I’ve got years more use out of crappy lawn chairs with this method.

Or splurge for the actual Vinyl Dye spray. That stuff can make old panels look new (with the right prep), be the right color and hold up for years.

It doesn't work nearly as long as soft parts like the arm-rest pad, but that could also be due to the amount of contact.

I FINALLY got my bikini top done today! I’ve been playing tag with this fella since February and he finally had it ready today. It’s not perfect but I’m really happy with it, no flapping going down road.

I don’t plan to ever get a real top for it so I had him put the track into one of the steps that the top lays in, this was to get a clean, smooth line when looking at it from the front.

When do we get to see pics of said truck in said mud?
John says that he could/would get his ride out on the trails a whole lot more if one of his partners-in-crime would get off his fatass and put it in gear and finish his own truck build so they could go wheel’n like they both did back in the day - I don’t believe him though, sounds like he is using his buddy as an excuse to me…

Or, I could be wrong !

All this pressure!!

I’m about to have a nice qjet for that 454, just need a battery and some mud tires.

I’d like to reply with reasons for not doing this but since the truck has a 454,TH400/205 already in it all your points are valid - except to say that every time I run a big-block I want more and more of that bodacious torque and the upgrades never end.
It must be like a drug addict on crack - I can’t control my need for power and that leads to the unlimited pursuit of prime big cubic inch power output and I just can’t trust myself.
This is one of the reasons for goin with the 292 program - to quote ole Clint Eastwood “ A man’s gotta know his limitations” !

Well, since my ole buddy John let it outta the bag that I almost died last November I’m gonna spill the beans on an update on his truck build upgrade.

Gather around fellas and let me tell y’all about a few plans for John’s K-5.
It seems there is this guy named Howard that makes all kinds of go fast goodies for engines and there’s another well educated and knowledgeable fella named Heath that sells these parts for Mr. Howard.

Well, ole John was needing more out of his current motor that was built years ago so he’s been gathering parts up to help put a smile back on his face each time he drives his rig.

John started with some parts like these - some folks don’t feel the need to adjust the timing and others want three adjustments available but ole John felt the need for nine different adjustment options.

Now these numbers on this piece of paper are supposed to mean something - it must be like a riddle or something…
BTW, that’s John’s finger in the picture - he often shows me just that one finger; I think he’s try’n to tell me something !

He’s also searching for a suitable carbon maker like the one in this picture to make use of this upgrade in parts.
Gotta love them DEEP breath’n and fuel spitt’n Holleys !

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to give credit due to the source of some of these cool parts and for dialing in the exact numbers needed.

@folkenheath

Now, it’s up to y’all to help John stay motivated to get his ride worthy once again and make his BIG-BLOCK sound-off and sing loudly.

Since John is kinda quiet on upgrades don’t let him know that I said anything about it…appreciate it !

Nothing to see here… yet, I’m waiting to see if I get approval of my expense request from the CFO or if I’m going to have to start selling plasma.

I’ve always been a mud guy so these upgrades will take me back to my roots, back to the fun.

I owe a big THANKS to @tarussell and @folkenheath for this new set up, since the last time I picked the engine combo things have been underwhelming to say the least. I’ve been telling Tom for a while that I don’t drive it or play with it much so I M.A.W. make it extra spicy. :pimp:
