91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

:waytogo: That is the same style I am going to build. Rene's was that style as well as Steve's in the UAV.

I've always thought that truck was sexy. I love that style of cage because it brings 3 "legs" together supporting each rear corner. Since I'll have both my daughters with me having the rear section of cage the strongest is what's most important to me. The only thing I'll try to change is I want the "C" pillar joint a little further back, maybe even with the rear of the rear wheel well instead of slightly forward of the middle.

Yep my thoughts exactly. I just want it far enough back to have rear seats in it comfortably with my tool box and ammo cans behind the seat. Im going to build some kind of rack system to keep everything in place. Prolly put the spare at the very back at a 45* angle mounted to a crossbar.

SCORE!! Just caught a new 1.75x8 PSC ram on Pirate for $150 shipped. :pimp:

Yeah, there's some good there if you can stand to wade thru the crap.

Thanks to the help of TARussell she's burning gas!!!1 :woot: Still got some work to do but I've past a major milestone.

das guud.

nice!!!! i wish i could say mine was alive, yours sounds nasty! the good nasty too!

I hope you put enough power under there to pull wheel stands an unlimited distance.:haha::waytogo:

It's nothing fancy, just a nice camshaft in an old dually motor. :D

I had an idea of what it was but not having that front axle is gonna be hard to drive. I envision something along the line of the 2WD truck pullers.:D Independent brakes for steering and about 1500 hp.:whistle:

no, just skiies for the front

The baby steps have begun...

I took it for a short 5 mile trip to break in the gears and see what it's road manners are like, well it's different... It sways way more than I expected, I knew the 52's allowed a lot of body roll but I really thought the lifted 52's would be stiffer. No. It rolls and sways like a sailboat. I haven't bought shocks yet because I figured they wouldn't be real necessary (my old truck with standard lift springs was rigid and you could tell if it had shocks at all), boy was I wrong. I guess I'm going to have to start figuring shocks & mounting out next.

Next is DW, and I ain't talkin about Darryl Waltrip. :doah: It'll drive but somewhere around a slow turn it just goes to pot. I really wasn't expecting this since everything is new, everything. I'm going to check for missed/loose parts tomorrow but I don't know. :dunno: I'm really glad I've got an assist ram to go on it now.

The motor feels and runs good but does seem to lack some punch. Someone on Pirate ran it thru a dyno programs and estimated 310hp @ 4000 and 445 @ 3000, not bad and I know it's a low compression motor but I guess I just want more. It's loud and open headers sound cool but I'm ready for a muffler already. The gears feel good, they seem to be matched nicely to the big tires but I was expecting a little more of an over geared feel than an adequate feel.

Here's a clip coming back from my trip, right at the end you can see/hear it chew up the bottom of the core support coming in the driveway.
