91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

I just need to work on remembering I have another low range available. :doah:

It’s an active build but.... Did you ever see that episode of Star Trek with the people moving so fast the Kirk and his people looked like they were in super slow motion? Y’all are just moving way faster than me so I appear slow. In my dimension, I’m working at regular speed. :D

No work this weekend, we’re on our way to New Orleans for a volleyball tournament.

I must be in your dimension too.

New toys look awesome.

Good on ya Dad

No big updates, just pic whoring a little.

You may have already seen some of these pics from my welding questions thread in the Garage. Here are some pic of the top chop related windshield frame welding and B pillar patching. I'm still slowly getting everything stuck together, grinding and rewelding the pinholes etc. I'm hoping next weekend to finally finish it, get it bondo'd and primed so I can move on to bigger stuff.

The inside of the B pillar, I assume the multiple layers are the "internal cage" GM referenced with the half top Blazers.

Same spot with a patch partially welded in.

An alignment dowel made from 1" tubing for the windshield frame (old repeat since Photobucket killed everything)

Looks awesome! Did you do any bracing in the floor?

No yet. I bought some DIY4X sliders that I hope will help (they bolt to the underside floor supports).

When I install the cage I intend to tie it to the A and B body pillars. I’ll also tie the cage floor plates to the sliders and the sliders to the frame.

Hmm. I was worried I’d need to brace everything before I started on mine but now I don’t feel so worried about it. I need to complete my rocker repair first.

I do feel a sense of urgency for the bracing but the truck hasn’t moved more than 25 ft on 2 years so it hasn’t seen anything that would cause the tub to flex. I left the doors on it until just recently to help this too.

My top ant tub overall flexes and pops when wheelin. Alot. Also my front frame horns are bending up and creasing right at the shackle hanger where the frame ramps up from the body mount.
It's getting bad.

My old K10 was creasing up front like that, it must be the big tires because I only played in the mud with it.

I hope by tying the cage to the A and B pillars I can keep it from twisting up.
