91 V1500 4WD "Clifford" Build

This is amazing! So you replaced the rotor, caliper and mounting bracket? Also rims must be upgraded to fit around the rotor.

Care to hook up the parts? This seems like a great upgrade that I think more people would love to know about.

Amazing, and will bump it! I think having some posts with FAQ's for these type of things would be really nice. I have never had to search so much for a new vehicle, and pay to see everything! Not complaining just stating that with some collection of resources of all the great posts we could have a great resource.

Also, this site does not rank well for SEO terms, I only found this site (after doing tons of Google searches) from the guy who sold me the Burb!
 
Yep CK5 is not optimized for internet searches, it's more of a square body insider forum. The info on here is amazing, plus it's SO much friendlier than say "pirate".
Biggest problem I find is some of the older tech has lost the pics. But the info still applies. You really wanna get frustrated? Try doing a search for "fang trimming".

Welcome, the thing that led me to this place was that it is often mentioned in both 4wheeler and Petersons as the foremost resource for squarebody knowledge.
 
Izzy! How goes the Banks burb? I love it when people find actual historic trucks.
 
Its goes horrendously slow. Right when I got my to-do list down to weedeating and the burb.... we get pregnant and get a house within two days of each other. So the wife is on bedrest already and I am remodeling a house while working full time and taking care of the 2 kids we already have so she can rest.

Wow, that got a little ranty, sorry. I did clean off the mating surfaces on the block the other day though:woot:
 
Oh, I hear you. Not really complaining, but NEVER marry a school teacher. She wants to get done in 3 months all the house crap she's been thinking about for the other nine while she is at school.
I've torn out two walls so far, 1k sqft of tile, moved 3 electrical circuits, ect. Man, I can't wait for school to start so I can get some days off.
Did you ever contact Banks and see if they are willing to help restore/get it running again?

Thanks, this place is great already. Just used to being spoon fed on other car forums.
 
Nice burb and welcome to CK5.

Looks like a great platform. It took me a few years but burb is finaly build the way i want it.
 
I imagine the 'burb came with the white roof...have you noticed any difference re: cab temps?

Yes, it came with the FJ inspired white roof. I have no idea since I have never owned such a beast!
 
I wouldn't bother with that rear end. All it will get you is better brakes. They're not really stronger than what you've already got. Are you looking to step up to 8 lug?

I am not really sure what going to 8 lug will really do for me, Im content with the truck now, and need to do brakes as it is, was thinking it would be nice to have disks all around. Also I read that this rear end would make my rear wheels sit more flush on the truck.

We should grab a coffee sometime muddysub, I am such a noob with 4x4.
 
Yep, better brakes, correct FULL width, same u joint even.

Ya that looks GREAT! I am just not sure the axle I am looking at is correct....
 
99-04ish GM 10 bolt rear axle with disk brakes. The truck version is slightly easier as you remove the bump stop pads and the shock mounts, and replace with your own on the axle. The Tahoe/Burb/Avalanche are a linked rear. Just remove ALL the brackets and install spring pad and shock mounts.
 
The link to that axle is the right one IF it has the right gears for you. Make sure you get the parking cables, the frame bracket, and the u shaped metal piece that links the parking cables together. A quick Summit racing order for spring pads and shock mounts (you could re-use the stock shock mounts, but it's more work), the cable joiner and you got it done.
 
If you don't want to go 8 lug then do it. As long as the gear ratio is right.
