96 s10 blazer, getting a 5.3L

total noob question
is the back suppose to come off like that, or did you mod that?
just saying, if those s10 blazers came factory like that, I have never in my life seen one with the back off. lol

lol. I chopped it off. Figured the windows would get smashed out the first run. I keep meaning to have a custom soft top made. Just keep finding way cooler things to buy for it. Someday.

sliders are 2x6" and around 5' long. I dont remember the exact capacity, Norby figured it out one time. If memory serves the pair of them are 4-5 gallon.

I show about ~2.37 gal each or ~4.75 gal with the two combined. Sliders are .1875" wall right?

Oh wow, that's pretty good and a heck of a lot better than running an auxiliary tank somewhere. Do you have any pics of how you plumbed the sliders? Have any kind of equalizer? What about a diagram of how you plumbed the whole thing?

I've done research about installing a york, but not operating. Does it shut off on it's own once it gets to a certain psi or do you have to do it manually?

I will have to take some pics. Really I just drilled and tapped the sliders on the inside for 1/4NPt and screwed the fittings in. I used some hydraulic hose that was given to me. Just had to pay to have the ends redone to 1/4NPt at the local hose shop. I really don't have a diagram either, just in my little head. I used an adjustable pressure switch off of a regular air compressor and ran the power switch thru it so it shuts off at the psi it is set at. I also used a little manifold from graingers that was like $25 that the pressure switch screwed into and also came with a pop off valve. i also used a one way check valve at the one slider, then it feeds the other slider. I'm sure they aren't exactly equal in pressure but close enough. Then I have two air couplers in the rear bumper with little doors on them in an attempt to keep some debris out. Works pretty good. I have a leak in each slider I need to weld up, but it makes people think they have in a hole in a tire when I'm sitting next to them:whistle:

Here is a generalized OBA diagram

But IMO would be better to use this type pressure switch

here is a few more pics, progress has been a little slow this year. I was sick, kids where sick, waited on some parts. Feel like I am making headway now. Finished front axle yesterday with new wheel bearings, full circle clips, new hub on pass side(thanks moab), inner axle seals, reid bronze bushings, new virgina 4x4 arms and ballistic fab truss. There is a nice little lip on the underside, so I put some rtv on them to try and help keep water out. The single ended full hyro setup will be going on shortly. Also have one frame rail mocked up and both frame ends are cut down and cleaned up. Also here is a pic of the full circle clips if anybody is looking for them, I got them from US Bearings, $3.81 for 25 of them. They had to order, but no shipping.

why 2x the price reid bushings over mad mac on pirate http://www.cmperformancemachine.com/store/product.php?productid=16133&cat=249&page=1

other wise looks good ?

I originally ordered the cm ones on Dec 9th, I had a hard time getting them, and a very hard time getting a hold of Mad Mac. You can read about it starting at the bottom of the page here, http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=682367&page=6
After doing a little searching, I'm not the only guy that has had this problem, but a handful of people have had good luck with him too. I just like straight answers, if I'm told it's going to ship on xx day then I expect it too, or be updated with in a few days as why.
Anyways, it looks like the reid ones have gone up in price too. We ordered 4 sets of them here, and my share was only $102. Only reason was because I wanted to get my axle back together. Ordered them on a Tuesday and got them on Thursday. Instead of Dec 9th-Jan 21st. Pretty similar other than the screw holes in the top that you could do if you really wanted them.

Nice.
I don't think he is a bad guy or bad product, I just don't deal with it very well when I get told a time line by a vendor and they can't follow their own statements. Just give it to me straight, if somethings not going to ship till Friday just say so. Then I get bashed for calling him on it:rolleyes:
Oh well, plenty of excellent vendors around. The bronze bushings instead of plastic are pretty sweet. Did you go with spring less arms too?

:yikes::yikes::yikes: WOW you had them runnin for the hills. i am surprised its not deleted.

and the big huge a$$holes over at pirate who LOVE to poke fun and call others out on ther goofs and kick everyone to the curb asked you to shut up . :haha::haha::haha:

that place has some balls over there for there internet ego's:popcorn:

at least i got my stuff and nice job on the work. but yep tell someone 1 time and dont see it. then call and get bla bla bla story and its going out now and see it by xx time. 2-3 x of this gets real old.

was waiting on it to get deleted, but i did delete the picture of the reid bushings. Pirate is a different place with a lot of internet legends, but their is a lot of good tech if you look around. Thats why I like blazer bash, relaxed and just people having fun no matter what level your rig is.

Little progress going on. I got my front end put all the way together with the ram mounted up. I had 2 expert helpers with the ram. My boy "reading" directions and my girl drawing me a pic of how it should be mounted. Wouldn't trade the extra time spent for anything though.

I also got my new winch rope from custom splice. My wife bought it for my b-day a week ago. Super customer service from him. I ordered it in the afternoon and had a tracking number that evening. I also have my frame all notched out on both sides for the new rail and bent the other rail too. I started gusseting one of them. I am using 3/16" plate for the gussets. I have the one on the inside of the bend where I cut it, am putting one on top and one on the bottom, all tig welded. Does anybody think I need to wrap one around the back also where the frame rail was bent, but not cut? I hope to get all the gussets done and motor mounts this weekend.

Looks sweet. I like the ovaled tube welds on the tie rod.

But I can't see the first picture, which might have the bracing you are asking about?

Edit, I see now. How thick is that rect tube? I would think if you just bent that side and never cut it, the bracing on the other 3 sides would be plenty, assuming you welded your cut seem all up too.

Thanks. The rectangle is .120 wall. Yes the cuts are all welded up, then ground down so the plates sit smooth.

Little bit of progress. The pics really aren't very exciting, but if feels like a big step to me:thumb:
