97 sas'sy Sierra/ 80 Cheep 10: tales of a phat block

Put about 200 miles on over the last couple days...... With what I believe to be a rod bearing on its way out.

Got some pics I'll throw up later.

Guess it's motor time meow....

Well the rattle rattle 350 is sitting on the flat deck. Ran the numbers and looks like it's a 1969 300-350 horse motor with 4 bolt main.

In the works of buying a house now too. And my main $$$ is going into the beaumont.

Getting a low mile rebuilt 350 4 bolt main for 50 bucks in trade for my motor. He only needs a block.

So I started gathering parts for a cheap build. Using my intake, guess its just a edelbrock performer. Picked up a comp 4x4 12-231-2 cam, it's the smallest one in the set. Got a set of comp magnum lifters as well.

Might source a set of 305 heads as well, if not prob just run the heads on it. Might gasket match them as well.

The clutch turns out to be a luk, was new when I bought the truck. It's still got lots if life left, flywheels in good shape too. Throw out bearing was ready to fly apart, so that works out in my favor atleast :doah::pimp:

That's About the major update for meow.

Why would you put 305 heads on a 350? The 305 heads have smaller ports and smaller valves. The only advantage is the smaller combustion chamber to bump up compression which in itself won't make up for the power loss of the smaller heads. Do yourself a favor and get a set of vortec heads. :deal:

Vortecs are out of my price range or I would.

Trying to come in under 600 bucks or so. Vortecs would add another 4 bills min.

My real choice would be a one piece rear seal 350, vortec heads, beehive springs, bigger cam etc etc.

But that in itself would be over a grand to swap in IMO

Here's how it sits meow, never mind the wood holding the input shaft up. Just did that to roll I back into the shed :haha:

My girlfriend said I should fix my truck cause it looks sad :haha:

That's way cheaper than the becool one.

On another note my death wobble is back, way more often than before. Gonna order a spring and bushing kit for the kingpins. I shimmed the one side 2 years ago and it's starting to show now.

Might also take it on a road trip to the lake this week, haven't been a hundred miles from home with it for a few years so I hope it'll make it!

I use that switch in everything. Works great.

Was this a 6.2 diesel truck? I see firewall insulation and hydra-boost.

The CUCV trucks and Blazers that I've seen just had a speedometer and a fuel gauge. I don't know about the ambulance version, but I don't think it would be any different.
