Any pics of teh install? Is 1.5" biggest that will fit? I have a 2" Sun Pro Trio I've thought about doing this with.
 
2" would prob require drilling the holes out a bit. I only got these pic's of it. Just pull one apart and you will see what needs to be done.

Oh I've had my dash out more times than I care to even begin counting.

Guess flush mounting them on the front would be best. Another project for another day.:rolleyes:

What did you do about wiring? Drill a hole through the back of the gauge cluster? What about when you need to pull the cluster out?
 
There was already a hole there from the PO who changed the gauges. I just cut a slot for the temp. sender wire. Removed anything related to the stock gauges so nothing would short out.

Oh and the cluster will never come out, EVER :haha:
 
Well Ive had the truck out quite a bit in the past month, broke one cab light, dented drivers door, and fender now. But its been working good, lovin the front grizzly, it works pretty slick.

Got a set of cab lights off ebay and slapped em on, most important part of the build :woot:

Damned if I know, Im not a dodge guy :haha:. It does have Fargo stamped in the hood as well, if that means anything too :dunno:
 
I'm thinking it must be something that wasn't available in the US. Maybe a Canada-only model? Now I'm curious. Doesn't really matter, I was just wondering.
 
very well could be. the tailgate used to say 2FARGON :haha:, but he took the 2 and N off cuz he didnt wanna get hassled by the fuzz. It was pretty rad though :thumb:
 
Fixed some minor things on the weekend, modified the air cleaner spacer so the choke linkage clears. Step Drilled a hole first than welded a patch over the hole for the little bit of clearance it needed.

Also I slipped and hooked my jacket on the hood, which than pulled the hood down on top of the air cleaner squishing the end(happened back in march). So I cut about 4 inches off of the inlet(just after the heat riser valve). I can now turn my air cleaner so it will suck from the firewall if need be.

Both heads had some rubbage on the spring shackle bolts, so out came the come along. Bent both sides in a inch, hopefully they dont spring back to how they were.


Now for the bad, Rear pinion bearings are toast(1/8" play)/seal and rear shaft U joints.

So thats next up on the to do list I guess, also gonna hopefully snag some E fans from the junkyard this weekend, and maybe a leak free steering box if I find one.

You got off lucky when your jacket got caught on the hood. If that had happened to me, it probably would have busted me in the head and knocked me out or something! :haha:
 
Well funny thing was when my hood caught the hood of truck I was stepping down off the bumper. So the hood slammed into my head, than I proceeded to fall on my azz :haha: :haha:
 
That kind of crap happens to me every time I work on my truck. Sometimes I try to crawl up into the engine bay to reach the distributor or something and my feet get all tangled up in the radiator hoses and stuff when I try to get out and I end up falling to the ground and then get mad and start beating on the hood and fenders and stuff with my fists, which puts dents in them and just makes my hands hurt too. :rolleyes:
 
haha dont even get me started on hitting defensless vehicles.

Almost forgot, snagged a pic of the old mans 77 C20 Camper Special 454. My rents bought in new in 78, has 85 000 miles on it.

Wow. :waytogo: Must be kept in a garage for sure. The late model wheels look pretty good on it, I must say. What was the original color, and where is the camper top?? I would think it would have a slide-in with a name like "Camper Special".

If my dad had bought a new truck in 1978, it would still look that good, but I don't think it would last that long with me as the owner. Although I am still driving the Ford pickup that I brought brand new in 1999. It has 225,000 miles on it with the original engine, transmission and even clutch. Maybe in another 20 years I'll get it repainted and post a nice pic of it out in the country with some dogs. Only it wouldn't look that cool because it's a Ford!
 
Haha yeah, it only sat outside one winter and the dash pad cracked. Ever since its sat in a a lean-to or a tarped shed. It was originally a similar brown with a tan roof.

The truck had 4 ties on the box sides for a camper, and shocks in the front corners of the box to help keep it from twisting with the camper on im assuming. Thats about all thats different i think than a normal C20.
 
Oh the dreaded cracked dashpad! :doah: My dad had an '84 C10 that he bought in about '94 that had no cracks in the dashpad. I mean it was perfect. The guy he got it from must have kept it in a garage for sure. My dad used to brag about that dash board all the time and how it was the only one he had seen in years that had an original, uncracked dash. Well one morning he came outside and the temp had dropped down into the teens suddenly when a cold front moved in and there was a split right down the middle of the dash. Right in the middle. I wasn't there when he made the discovery, but I bet there were tears in his eyes for sure. :haha:
 
I have an original dash with no cracks and I store my truck outside :dunno:

:doah:You shouldn't have said that. Now it's going to crack! Mine's all cracked up but I couldn't care less. I wonder if leaving the windows up helps. Or window tint. I think it's just sudden temperature changes that crack it. Who knows? I'm not sure how you can keep your truck looking so perfect anyway. I bet your hair and clothes are always perfect too. :rolleyes:
