97 Tahoe 2 Door

It does look good, damn thing is really straight without a hint of rust. I won't be able to tear it down for a month or so when I get back my trip. While it's apart I'll finally install those updated injectors that's I've had on the bench for months too.

This was fun.....

Not!

The newer generation "LS" engines are so much easier to work on....

The intake manifold has been off before, had felpro gaskets. The injector spider looks like it's been leaking so I'll finally swap in that new one that I bought last year. Tomorrow I'll drop the heads off so they can look them over.

And start buying SAS parts...you forgot to say that.

After the truck is back together I'll be shifting my focus onto this for sure. I'm leaning toward a link setup. Should handle the curbs aand speed bumps at the mall more adequately.

Machine shop just called, one of the heads is cracked at the notorious center bolt location. They recommended a set of aftermarket heads that have an extra 0.5" of casting material added that have been proven not to crack like the factory GM heads do. They'll have those heads in house over the next couple days, shove my valves and springs in them and I'll be back in business.

I'm probably about $1k deep on this project.

The new heads are $200 each so I'm probably $500 into the heads, another $100 in gaskets, $350 for the injection spider and another $50 on fluids.
Should run better now :burnout:

I love these two door Hoe's. I've always wanted to SAS one just cause I think they are cool.

What are the future plans for the truck (if I missed it)?

I have a soft spot for these too, had a 93 in HS and loved that damn thing. So many stories in that truck, many of which my friends still talk about to this day :D

Keep it low, probably a 33 or 35" tire at the biggest
SAS BJ60 linked on coilovers with a sway bar, rear will stay on leafs with a SF or FF axle
build a rear bumper/tire carrier so we have more cargo space.

My wife drives this rig more than I do so keeping it street friendly is a priority however I would like it to handle the trails better when we go camping.

I just wonder if the added cost of linking with coilovers is worth it for the end result of the truck? Since it's something your wife drives, and with the tire size it doesn't sound like it's going to be doing anything too crazy as far as offroad goes....so wondering why not just do a normal leaf sprung SAS kit that has proven itself over and over again?

Sure SAS kits have a little higher price tag, but once you factor in the cost of just the coilovers....it's going to be way higher $ wise in the end then just going leafs and a simple crossover steering setup.

Either way it's a sweet rig and it will turn out great....I just raised my eyebrows a little bit when I read you wanted to link/coilover the front is all
