This is exciting!!! First fit of the engine in the S10.

This engine is in there so tight, I will have to run an internal slave cylinder and my block hugger headers are no where near close to fitting. Also my camaro radiator is too tall as well. Well I guess my budget just had to get a little bigger...

I'm not a fan of the S10-V8 thing unless were talking 1000 HP, city block long burnouts.
But, I must admit, your swap has caught my eye.
Do I hear an NV4500 in your very near future?

As much as I would love to all out with this I am confined by a budget. This being my first swap I wanted to keep it simple. The plan is to use this truck as a split daily driver too. Mostly factory parts = reliability and compatability. But mostly its budget constraints :doah::whistle:

No plans for the nv4500, if/when I upgrade the transmission it will certainly be a T56.

they have s10 v8 swap specific headers
just adds to the budget though :(

if you can find a junkyard s10 blazer (98+ IIRC) you can steal the front brakes off it. They came with 2 piston calipers. You will need the spindle and all that is attached to it. The difference is well worth it. I did this to my DD. Wish I had the cash for the rear 8.5" disc axle off the same blazer. My eaton posi wont work for it though :(

Good stuff! Been wanting to do another one of these myself someday. I did a AWD Bravada back in the day TBI 5.7. pretty fun rig. Keep at it! subscribed....

unfortunately no updates of significance as of yet, just some parts gathering. This one is my fav:

a little more progress

I got a little more progress done today. I have the engine/clutch/trans assembled and mounted up. Also I did some initial fitting of the headers and found they are really poor quality and major massaging will have to take place. But this is for the pic whores:

quick fart or two of paint on the frame:

fabrication complete

Ok so I had to do a lot of modifications to the headers I bought in order to get them to fit. The passengerside fits perfectly while the driverside I had to cut off the collector and reweld it at a different angle. I also welded on a 45* mandrel bend to have it dump down at the frame. Also the raised flange seats took a lot of filing to get them true and flat. Without me doing that there would have been no way these headers would seal. Then to top it off I wrapped the headers to cut down on enginge compartment heat and to help protect the spark plug boots.

Also I now have the engine in and perminately mounted. So here's the list I have left:
-Plumbing
-Fuel Lines
-Fuel pressure regulator
-Wiring
-bleed clutch
-Re-assemble the front clip

I'm in the home stretch now and I can't wait until its done!

She runs!!!

Ok bigger update here:

I got the engine and trans final mounted in and tight. The headers are tight, plug wires run, wiring 90% complete, fuel system complete, carb mounted, vac lines run, throttle attached, radiator mounted, and I got to give her a test fire! The engine sounds like a million bucks too! I only got to run it for a minute because of no coolant yet and the trans has no fluid yet.

Fresh coat of paint on the core support and my sweet ass radiator:

Here is the shifter, as you can see its a little too close to the seat and thats with the seat all the way back. So I did some research and found a slightly taller Hurst stick that bends foward 2.25" so that sould fit 10x better.

So all I have left before the first test drive is to reassemble the front clip and fit the driveshaft. The factory driveshaft has a vibration damper mounted on the transmission yoke and its getting in the way of the tailshaft so the yoke cant slip all the way in preventing me from being able to bolt the shaft onto the diff. I just need to find a different yoke without a damper or have this one pressed off.

it was too dark to take pics but I have the front clip assembled, radiator in, fans in, fans wired, battery in, and cables assembled. All thats left is finishing touches on the wiring, put the hood back on, and figure out the driveshaft situation.
