All things Drag Racing.

Saying pump gas was the fuel in 1964 is not nearly the same as today, ha ha. He used a brand new engine and rearend to build that thing, it's interesting the engines were different internally.

got this off of YouTube. The finals at the 4-Wide Nationals at Las Vegas. I only went on Friday. The stands look kind of empty for NHRA final rounds. I remember going to NHRA and NASCAR races back in the 70's and 80's where the stands would be packed.

That has to be an experience seeing 4 of those take off at the same time. Seeing them on camera never does it any justice, because you can't feel the power through your whole body.

Seeing nitro 4 wide in person is a lot to take in…I watched two funnycars blow up on the same pass and the other two making a clean run….We were at about 330’. One was a ball of fire, then another car body goes flying in the air…my brain couldn’t keep up w my eyes!

It’s been blowing up the news here in Denver.

Nothing and I mean nothing was near that track when it was built in the late 50’s. They did move it further up the hill when c470 construction came through. Then slowly housing started creeping west. Now new developments are almost up to c470 just east of the track.

The rumor I heard is of all things Amazon bought the land. I can’t confirm it and haven’t seen a stitch of info in the news but it came from a fairly good source that knows the family. We will see if it’s true.

It’s a focking shame. That place is world class.

I can’t believe they are finally going to close, it’s a rumor pretty much every year. My family has spent a lot of time at the track, my kids grew up running around Bandimere. My wife, dad, both kids and me have all raced there for years. It’s a shame that a place like that doesn’t have “room” to exist these days.

Based on the portion of the crank we can see, it looks to be a flat plane crank, must be the new LT6 corvette engine! ;)
