All things Drag Racing.

Dang so close to 11.99. At least the changes are still keeping it consistent even with the DA going up. You got that car dialed.

Good work dude!

I started out the morning (almost noon) with a big surprise…best run ever @ 12.09/116. Really surprised me because even with the mineshaft conditions for air quality, I figured w the mufflers on it, and pump gas it would slow by a couple tenths, but boom, personal best!
And then I give it some more jetting, seemed to like that too.
Switching to race gas and more timing didnt turn out like I hoped, as it slowed slightly, but D/A was climbing as well.
ended up w 40* on race gas, and spin slightly, but that hit the 60’ hard, otherwise looked like a promising pass, so right back in line (only a few cars in the lanes) and tried again, but started suffering tire slippage.
another promising run was fubared by driver error, not sure why but I decided to lift early.

So all in all a great day, blew off .17 for best ever ET and gained a mph!
I will be shooting for that 11 sec zone next year!

Awesome track day Dave! You'll get the 11s, a converter and some sticky tires would do it.

Anything extra you could take out for weight? Like a spare tire or anything?

I’ll look at some things to lighten, and I’ll be adding some safety and brake items weight as well.
Spare is gone, front bumpers gone, a blower motor for the coupe ventilation in the back area. It weighs 3150 w my @$$ in it.
I’ll keep cracking at it!

Way to go Dave! I love the methodical approach with little changes getting results. Congrats on the new PB!

@500$k5 can you even imagine density altitude conditions like that???
Seems like you saw numbers above 8K quite often here.
I know! My engine would probably just scatter parts, with that much air! I have seen DA of over 9000ft, and I know Denver sees the same kind of numbers at Bandimere!

Gainesville this spring for the Gatornats was as low as -1500‘.
They postponed first round of qualifying because track temp was too cold…lol.
heat sucks.

Met up with Grubb at Radford last night for TnT. No changes to my car but I ran a 10.52 @ 66.2mph for my best pass so far. DA was around 830' for that pass. Gonna bump the timing up soon. We tried to but neither of us had a wrench to get to the distributor hold down bolt.

We pulled the cooling fan, put on a belt just turning the water pump and alternator, and iced down the intake on Matt's 88 Mustang GT for a 9.35 pass @ 75.5mph! That's a very tired stock 302 through an unknown AOD. Only real modification is 3.73 gears.
