Well we got the BII back out. Its been sitting for about a year because I kinda gave up on it when I got my K5. Well a buddy said I need to bring it down and get it goin to go have some fun. I said I had no money for another project and he said thats fine cuz he has 2 rangers we can use for parts.

Well after towing it to his shop we got to work:thumb:

(God I love my friends)

It would appear the running problem started with the return fuel line being chewed by a rodent of some sort...

After swapping distributors, burned a starter and found another, and lots of misc crap we got it at least running. Fuel system has issues still that need to be addressed, but it will run!!

Now for the front bumper.

Got 1-1/4" piece of galve pipe at work and a bunch of 1" pipe, yah kinda small but it was free and enough of it should make a decent tree stopper.

And I finally got to use my pipe bender, welder, and jawhorse at the same time!:woot:

This is where we ended for the night, too many beverages, too late, and I felt we already had pressed our luck for not killing ourselves.. lol.
The bumper will get alot more beef to make up for the smaller pipe, but the things damm near perfectly symmetrical and looks pretty cool IMO.

Gawd what a fun night. We were messing around from noon to 3am, just bsing and had a ton of people over hanging out and what not. Who ever said beer and power tools is a bad thing.... :flipoff7:

Plasma cutters are pretty fun too:thumb:

The plan is to beef it up, and beat the living S*** out of it, while trying to spend absolutely no money on it. Many of you "DO IT THE RIGHT WAY"ers may not want to watch this one:D

Nate passed out:haha:

For how late it was when we started doing measurments and bends, I think it looks awesome!! Im gonna add alot more beef to it because I really did spend alot of time on body work back in the day fixing massive rust outs, so I would like the bumper to hopefully stop as much body damage as possible...

The rear will get a big peice of rectangular stock, prolly something just like stomis did on the isuzu..

The bolts on it are 5/8" may go 3/4 idk yet, but ill get 2 more if not 4 more locations to bolt it to the frame.

bahh a myth...

my bro and i yanked my front clip and motor out..to install a clutch and put it all back together in one night... oh and 1 30 pack of mgd...

If anything it makes ya "MORE SMARTER!!!" lol:haha:

If anyones got any ideas for the bumpers feel free to take the pictures and put some designs on for me :thumb:

So This is what we kinda were shooting for, to use as a starter, I think its pretty close (bottom photo). But what say you guys about the rear bumper? Solid rectangular wrapped around the fenders (like stomis' Isuzu) or go pipe style wrapped around the rear... Like the first pic?

do pipe so it looks good front and back.

do pipe so it looks good front and back.

Thats what I thought, but do you think its gonna be beefy enough to stand up to some hard hits, or will it cave right in?

I do like the look of that cherokees rear bumper though, it looks sweet. We have a bunch of expanded metal too I may cut and weld in the openings just for looks, may be kinda neat.

that depends on if you plan to hit it harder from the front or from the back:rolleyes:

But For real, I just want opinions because im 50-50 right now for either. I was also thinking maybe a combo of the 2 somehow?? For looks and strength. Also I need to really beef up the front alot. I wanna be able to hit stuff but not destroy the whole bumper in one shot.

thats why I was askin. it just sounded good too:D If your not planning on mashing stuff in reverse then do the tube. As for the front, just put 2 or 3 more cross bars in there like the main bar. should be alright for most realistic bashin

Yah I Don't really know how hard we will bash it. I'm not gonna on purpose but stuff happens, just trying to beef it enough to prepare for the worst case scenario.

I want to find a way to beef up the main bar on the bottom where it goes around the fenders. One good swipe on a tree and I feel it will bend right over and kill the fender. Maybe wrap a bend from the end of the bar under the fender and back to one of the hoop tie in joint areas oncthe bottom.

Subscribed. What sort of lift you putting on it?
