Blazer Chalet / GMC Jimmy Casa Grande spotted

"Chalet paparazzi"... cool, I created a monster when I started this thread...
...if it wasn't for the drive to AZ, I probably would have grabbed it...just drop the regular top and load up the Chalet. I am sure it isn't quite that easy....
Haven't done it myself, but the consensus is that these are beasts to remove, basically too flimsy to be self-supporting in the cab-over area.

No need to drive to AZ, the #1743 one in Bountiful UT should still be for sale there http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=&nid=443&tab=myads/view&ad=143799 and there is a 'mystery one' off I-15 somewhere in SLC (pic here, from http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=220747 ), a couple of other UT ck5.com guys are scouting for it. The pic in that thread is bigger, if you SLC guys recognize the mountains in the background let me know.

I remember seeing that one, I just can't remember where for the life of me. I know it has been a while though, so I don't know if it is still there.

Here's at least the camper part for sale in Hillsboro, OR. I don't know if that's for the entire truck or just the shell. It's cheap but it doesn't look like there's much there. $500

Thanks, I called, hopefully the seller will provide the serial number and confirm if it's the original Blazer there that got rattlecan painted. Found another shell only on eBay just this morning, Lebanon, Indiana: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130231327357&_trksid=p2759.l1259
**edit - seller called, said it was serial #1117, top is partially open in the eBay photos which is why it looks crooked, might sell his 90 (?) Blazer that this camper was supposed to go on....**

Chalet paparazzi.....to damn funny. If the utah and az - nv ones are free or dirt cheap i have 5 acres to store the rescued units until a good home can be found....

And you would be the original Chalet rock star....... just sent ya a regular email, Doug. The AZ one (your former shell via Denver serial #263) was rescued at the last minute by a guy in Tempe, member of ck5 who has interesting plans for it. The others might be a bit far out of reach mostly distance-wise, but I put out forum posts in gmtrucks.org and expeditionportal.com to help spread the word. Meanwhile a guy in VA just joined the Yahoo forum with a 90 Blazer who wants a shell, I steered him toward Callis' #327 in KY that's still attached to the Blazer he wants to keep.....

Sorry it has taken so long to get some pics up. I finally was able to sneak inside the gates of the apartment complex to get some pics.

I have seen a pretty rough Chalet in Flagstaff for a few times over the years, Cant remember the colors exactly but I think it was green two tone. Then last week saw a SWEET Chalet drive through - possibly went north up Hwy89 - it was the gold color they use on the new Suburbans. (or very similar color)

Aha! #1488 formerly of a for sale internet ad out of Midland TX last year, explains why the seller never returned my phone message from 4 months ago. Thanks much, the seller's photos weren't so wonderful - the 3-color stripes on the Blazer part are different from others I've seen, now that I can see them clearly.

Intriguing on both parts, the rough one is another to add to my mega-list if ya can get a pic of it or more details, and the spiffy one sounds like someone might have gone to a lot of bother to paint it up. Thanks for keeping an eye out...

Glad I could help. It is odd though that it would be listed for sale in Midland. This is the same one I have been seeing here in town for the past few years. At least 4-5 years. It used to be parked in a different apartment complex a few blocks down from the one I lived in and I would walk past it each evening walking the dog. I always like the custom nerf bars on it. I don't know, I sure like it though. Would still love to find a shell for cheap some time in the future.

Hmm...could be the seller is one who farms out the internet ad placements to a relative, I've run across that before. I'll PM the ad I cut 'n pasted with the phone number in case you want to pursue it further. The guy wanted $4500 for it, which is the lower end of price for one that looks to be in good shape.

Hmm that is definately the same one. Lubbock is a college town so I guess having it listed in Midland isn't that surprising. Maybe I'll have to leave a note on it asking if it for sale. The guy that drives it is probably in his 40s so maybe he saw it for sale here local and bought it. It does have a couple dents here and there but overall looks pretty nice. I would be happy just finding a shell to rebuild though if he isn't willing to sell.

If I was to do it over again, I'd look for one of the older 4 wheel drive models built for K5's. Heresy, I know - but not being able to pull the camper off when I'd like to use the truck for daily driving / same day outdoor trips is the biggest drawback to me.

... still wondering how Craigslist evades "national" searches. I've been using an all-inclusive google site search, and earlier today it picked up this Chalet in .Boise. but it doesn't right at the moment, and it doesn't see the one in NC right now either.......
