"Bolt-on" Single cab conversion

I spoke with the fiberglass guy tonight and he is going to get me a price on the mold next week.

He said it was going to be SUPER easy!

I just need anyone with the lower portion to step up and get me measurements of the metal lower portion along with the guage size, CAD drawing or ANYTHING that will help. :D

blazer pickup

I have a friend who takes blazer tops and cuts them off behind the cap then he cuts the back section off and molds them together with fiber glass and it makes a really cool cab and you use your origonal back window that bolts to a metal floor devider, its almost like a cab and a half. He runs a snow plow business and has 8 or so blazers and has them all converted except 1.he did this so the heater keeps up and they haul a shovel and a snowblower easily.I will try to get some pics to put on the website.

I will see what I can do here in the next week or so. Don't have drawings, just the actual metal pieces to measure up

That would be awesome brother!!! Detailed measurements on existing pictures would be sufficient.

I can put them in CAD, and then test fit and then adjust if need be.

Of COURSE you would get a discount for helping out!!!:thumb:

OK, so this is going nowhere real fast and money is getting tight.

If I could sell just the fiberglass parts for $450, how many people could come cash?

If not who wants this thing? I have it sold pending a response from another member, but otherwise if there is no REAL interest then I would rather cut it loose and let someone enjoy it.

Haven't forgot about ya. I'm waiting for a piece of my halfcab to show up before I can give you those measurements for the bottom portion of the half cab. I haven't been able to put it together yet, so I'm not quite sure how it works yet. There are 4 small pieces and two large metal pieces, plus the fiberglass top part. Once I get it all together, I will be able to get you those measurements.

But yea only worth it if people are going to make it worth your while. So who would (seriously) like to buy one of these things? I will post pics when I get it all together too.

For 450 this thing is cooler and less expensive than a soft top.

Then you could expand on to a half bed sized one. So you can take passengers

Got some blueprints for the bottom half on their way if you want them. Though I would rather just make a soft tonneau for the lower half personally. Just make about 10 of the upper halfs and start selling them and go from there. It seems like you would get more of a response that way on who has a REAL interest.

Thanks brother, all the help I can get means more of a discount I can provide.

It will always be worth my while, but I have kids to feed, so I am not going to go broke, breaking even would be great and I will worry about the profit down the road; just want to help the community if there is a need. If not, then why even bother. No need to bring a product to market if it does not sell.:D

Um yes and no. :haha:

That would be great. Pm me and I will send you my address as I would love a digital copy, but a hard copy will work. I think I can fund the mold, but then I would need down payments to actually make them.

I REALLY wanted for this to be a complete unit, but if more are JUST interested in the fiberglass piece, then it might be quicker all together.

Regardless I want the measurements and any plans for the bottom piece.

Thanks to all!!!!!:thumb::waytogo:

OK, how fast things change. I just got offered an opportunity to buy a bike that I really want, so first $500 plus shipping buys the topper.

For clarification, this is the fiberglass piece that bolt to the back of the cab, WITH a sliding rear window. It is blue.

I haven't been on the website in some time and, I just noticed this thread and saw a picture of my old 85 (above) in first couple of pages.

Just so I don't have to scan through all of the pages and figure out whats going on.

Whats the cliff notes? Are you guys getting someone to make these again? I was just wondering.

I scrapped the old 85 a bunch of years ago for a long bed pickup.

I still have that cab conversion lying around. (Just the top, never had the bed cover part) I cut the front of a pickup bed and welded it it. I was perminatly converting mine at the time though. It worked great and didn't leak a bit.
