budget beater - . . . HOLMES 220 single line boom wrecker install starting ..

here is the pics .

she is on the new 255/85/16 or 33.30" tall tires .

i already figured the rear would be high . i have a old rancho ? or other brand 4" front leaf pack in there that was 6 leafs per . i took out 2 of them and she come down around 3" and rode much better . the rear is a stock length shackle and ORD 4" flip bracket setup .

i am thinking keep it a flip but do a set of 2wd hangers i have on hand . this also keeps it BUDGET BUILD price point. already looked but i have no stock rear hangers i can find now . so this will have to work .

i have a/c line to pull at pump . then lower rad hose . then check the rest again and lift the cab & front clip as 1 unit i hope :1zhelp::surepal::thinking::whistle:

Looks good!
Are you planning on moving the axle back a little?
And I understand the height concern.

just ordered my 20 gal efi tanks for long bed since this truck had factory installed short bed 16 gal tanks . and they were original and little chunky on the bottom .

then i got me a ACdelco ep381 pump for the primary tank to bump the pressure up for what i plan to feed the motor with . . . and wait to see what i dug out and blew the cob webs off of for a motor .

have to pin point if the stock gm 87 efi switcher valve can handle the higher psi from tbi it was used on . if it can then i will get a second pump and install in other tank . if not it will be just a transfer tank .

That's the perfect lift height to tire size to rim size ratio you got going on there in my opinion for a nice DD truck. Reminds of an old farm truck. I could drive something like that everyday no problem.

got the t-case off the th400 and the doubler off the 4l80-e from old project STUBBY . . . but ran in to a multi level problem bolting them together . lets just say i need a custom spacer to make it all work .

checking the shaft stick out with the th400/208 adaptor i later found out i cant use for many resons from years ago building the range box .

then the stock th400/203 adaptor will work with a custom spacer to take up the diffrence . and no i am not swapping the tail shaft in the trans . i dont have one and there is no real good shops for trans work in my area anymore .

My buddy made a custom spacer like what you are talking about to mate a former 2wd th400 to a 205 I think. Cut some pieces of half or one inch pate and sandwiched it all together with silicone I believe.

rear bumper design stolen from the other build PLOW MACHINE since its not close to done yet .

so i played with this in cardboard . then mocked up in steel with marker and tape . then changed the length of the lower section for the trailer hitch and removed 1.5" more off the taper up on the lower hitch section . now i think its good and ready to cut / weld up .

going for a old school 70's look for aftermarket beefy bolt on bumper and bolt on trailer hitch setup to the bumper . kind of like a you buy it and bolt it all together .

yellow sections go bye bye . will be pie cut out and lower lip of channel bent up and welded back together and ground flat .

going 2.5" hitch since lots of stuff now is going this route .

got the trans / tcase combo mocked up with shifters . looks like a 1" inch spacer will do just fine and leave a bit of end play wiggle room .

also brown santa was by the shop today when i was at work . he dropped me off this item kirt @cybrfire at diy4x makes on request . the was 70lbs shipped aspr the tag on it .

What shocks are you running? You are mounting them to the underside of the bed? Looks like a clean way to fit a longer shock in there.
