Build of oleyeller

Some of that tlc include srw front hubs and rotors. I think that might help keeping your trail companions from thinking the wheels are falling off:eek:.
bigger better stabilizer or hydro assist for those big 40+ tires.
Enjoyed having you and the extended family with us on the trail. I actually got your boy to talk to me twice :D

I will for sure keep y’all up to date on finding out what my “wobble” problem is. Glad me and the family were able to make it out and meet everyone as well. For the most part I believe everyone had a good time.

Installed the BB23 sticker on the fridge. Been busy so don’t really have any updates right now.

Bout to give ole yeller a make over! Right now I’m thinking of taking body lift out, frame swap, DRW to SRW, re paint the truck to its original yellow, powder coating accent parts, etc.

Step 1: the frame

Good time to strengthen that frame up in all the critical areas.
What areas would you say need strengthening? I currently have a bolt on steering sector brace and was planning on adding the weld on kit.

That’s a good start for the steering if your leaving the box in the stock spot.
Change the shackle mount in the frame with the ORD one and box it in on the inside. The front and rear spring hangars could use weld washers for the spring bolt holes
Plate the frame on the bottom where the crossmember is to make it thicker.
Check all the rivets holding the front crossmembers to the frame and inspect for cracks everywhere.

Have any pictures on how to box in where the shackle mount is on the inside?

Check the rear upper shock mounts carefully for cracking.

I’ve been wanting to do powder coating for a while now. And these projects could use some TLC. So we got a little side tracked on making an oven!

Alright now that the 88 jimmy is bout done I’m going to get back on my 84. It’s been neglected for some time now and is in desperate need of attention. I was also thinking of posting on YouTube the process. I was also going to set some goals of do at least one thing a week. I’m sure that would be a lot but at least it’s a goal.

Here is this weeks update:

Took the 40s off. I then took the 17” wheels and put them on the 2012 suburban with some new nittos which I think changed the whole look of that vehicle. But anyway the 40s will be sold so I can put new tires on this after it’s redone!

I’m glad to see you working on this, with the other Blazer going and no mention of it I was afraid it was gone.

I see your update but what are the plans?

YT would be good.

Frame swap, take out body lift, fix rust, most likely put tube doors on, a lot of powder coating, these bumpers will come off (I’ll keep them for future project), axles will come apart and refreshed, and no telling what else. I want to cruise it around town but still take it to a trail somewhere. I really think I’m going to give up the mud life on this truck.
