Building Blazer still

THANKS GUY"S!:saweet::saweet::woot::waytogo::D

The Blazer (Thumper) is going in for Paint!
Gonna be Silver and have Black and Pearl Blue Flames with Ghost Skulls! The Cowel is going to have a Evil Chick Grim Reaper Mural painted on it. The Sides will have a Rocket with K5 on it.
I told Sean from S&S Metal Works just to make it Cool! Above is what he come up with, can't wait to see it! He will send updates as he goes with the paint job.:woot:

All I can say is wow. I just read through the whole build thread. This is one badass rig, and I am glad that you are getting to build your dream rig. This is something that most of us can only hope to do, and it's good to see someone be able to do it

Thanks stockk5!:waytogo: Thumper not going in for Paint untill next week.:frown1:

Also, what's your torque converter stall speed? To low and you will never stop it in low low.

I have run a "factory" Th350 stall converter guessing under 2,000 rpm, and a known 2,500 to 3,000 rpm converter. There is a noticeable difference between the two as to how hard it is to stop in low gear.

There are also some games to play with full manual systems that work well. I like full manual systems because they are always the same motor running vs. off.

You were right about the torque converter! The stall was 1,800rpm to 2,00rpm and now I put in a 2,700rpm. I also went with the Vanco Hydroboost System. Brakes work great plus it woke the motor up a lot on bottom end.

Question though do you know what your spring rates are in the front?

Thanks blazinzuk,
Front is 350 over 250 and the Rear is 200 over 300 is what we ended up with. I have Anti Rock Sway bars on the Front & Rear.

Any idea what your front weight is? I think you said like 3200 lbs?

I came up with an idea today. I have been looking all over the web at build threads and I realized I could probably save somebody sometime if I got all the spring rates from the different Chevys I have seen and post them in one place.

Probably on my build thread because that is my goal right now is to get a good handle on what similar rigs are running for spring rates anti roll bars and how they like em and if they have had a different spring rate on there.

So have you had any other spring rates on there? Do you know what size your sway bars are?

I would imagine you are quite a decent amount heavier in the front then I am but I haven't weighed mine yet.

That sounds good. Put down your build thread link.
The Front wt is 3,480lbs and Rear wt is 2,690lbs. My BBC has aluminum heads so I may be close to the same wt as yours in the front, I do know my tires & rims are going to be heavier than yours and that is where the difference will be!
I started with 350 over 350 on the Front & 300 over 350 on the rear. Had S&S Metal works dial it in better and they came up with Front 350 over 250 and Rear 200 over 300. I am not sure what the swaybar was but S&S moved the one I had on the rear to the front and got a new softer one for the rear. They did a lot of tuning work getting the sway bars correct, there is no bolt on option to make them work correcly. I have not got to drive it yet but I was told there is night & day difference from when I had it at BB. I can't wait to drive it!

Your wheels and tires are heavier but not by nearly as much as you would think.

I put on a set of 16x12 stazworks on 44" swampers and they weren't that much heavier than my recentered H1s. H1s are heavy

I have run 44" PBRs before and they are about 35 lbs heavier than my 42s

So you probably got me by about 45 lbs a corner.

I gotta get my motor moved and everything before I weigh stuff though

I am also going to try to build a suspended scale using an old hydraulic cylinder so I get accurate sprung weight

Cool good to know, I will be watching your build. I would say you are lighter than me in the front. Lol You Gonna have Horton going by Blazer Bash 2013?

Yep, can I afford to go, probably not. Take a ( rather huge detour admittedly) detour and come up to Idaho on your way down or back. We will put a couple dents in your body. :D:D

If I do end up going it will be more than likely in my Jimmy just bust down there and drive back
