Building the Ultimate M1008 *Beadlocked 42's w/ pic's**

The thing on the rear brake line is a prop valve for the rear. Its load sensitive. As the rear sags(more load) the brake pressure is increased. Lots of 3/4 and 1 tons had them. You just sent full brake pressure to your rear brakes ;). Some guys find that fine. personally when I did it on my 89 Burb, it would lock up the rear brakes all the time.

This will be primarily a trail rig, but thanks for the heads up. What's different than a 1/2 ton setup? Is the master cylinder different?

Tie rod in stock location installed, front fenders cut, and brakes bleed....kind of.

I went to install the drag link, but apparently I need a different DRE as the shank will not seat in the hole properly. I installed the tie rod I recieved from ORD last week and bleed the brakes twice.

I still have very minimal braking power, when I idled it down the driveway I had to put them to the floor to stop it. Anyone have any ideas? I might just start a new thread. Anyways I did not put the overloads in the front as the truck seems pretty level to me. I might put them back in when I test out the suspension, but this will all have to wait till I get back from Florida on the 17th:(

Here are a few pic's

i really ..really doubt you did it..

but I have swapped the calipers on accident before, make sure your bleeders are on the top.. also do you hvae hydro brakes or regular vaccume?\

if vaccume check your booster, if you hear eccesive air comming through when you hit the pedal..

seen a couple other flip calipers..also saw a truck in a junk yard, a wrecked front end and calipers on the wrong side...I wonder if he had no brakes when he wrecked it:crazy:

Bleeder valves are on the top. I was uber careful when putting the calipers back on, the calipers have a L and an R at the end of the part number stamped on them to help idiots like me....lol.

I might use the power bleeder thang that Joe made out of a bug sprayer......all I know is I ain't touchin that thing till the 17th which might be bad since that gives me roughly 2 weeks before the bash.....:doah:

im in the middle of axels swaps..gear swaps..4 speed 205 swap..brakes..paint..interior..fab work..

ill be there or die tryin:D

Well I am back from my 12 day TDY to Florida. I need to attack this thing if i am going to make it to the bash. I have realized I am not going to be able to run the Hard Core trails this year as a few things will not be able to be completed to allow me to comfortably tackle the 4+ trails at Moab. This is not too bad for me as I love hanging out with my 4 Wheelin friends and love Moab no matter what trails I will be driving on:)

Things left to do:

Still need to find right draglink end for my WFO high steer arms

Mount front shock with Ford towers

Weld front diff

Make front square driveline

Mount bumper

Bleed brakes

install rear diff guard and pinion guardsman

Re tighten all the bolts before I leave...lol

It doesn't seem like much, but if they don't give me the leave I requested it will be tough working after work and on the next 2 weekends without feeling the pressure. I am sure I am going to run into some problems. For instance I have a Warn 8274 12V winch, but my truck has a 24V system. So if I want to have a winch for the trip I will need to address this problem along with everything else.........::jeez:

I also put in a request for 2 weeks vacation soon...to have the time to finish my truck off and get it back on (and off) the road. I have been getting some stuff done on weekends but progress has been pretty slow nonetheless.

My big push is because i want to list our place, and having it looking like "Ricky-Bobby's redneck 4x4 garage" ain't gonna fly.

My entire drivetrain is sitting in my computer room right now, and the carport is an average mid build mess. Not really what I want people seeing if the place is getting shown.

FWIW, when I went to BB '03 I didn't have as much done on my truck as I wanted either, but still had a blast!! Just hangin with the CK5 crew was fun, BS'ing at camp was fun, and the wheelin i did do was very cool. I did attempt Pritchett even without a cage (at the time)

We all seem to have this mindset that "mod X" albsolutely has to be done before we go to an event and end up turning things into a massive build in the months and weeks before. At some point you have to look at reality and realize it isn't that big a deal if you don't show up with the all out uber crawler. You're gonna have fun no matter what you bring or what stage of the build up you're at. :waytogo:

No problem, just hook it up to the first battery:wink1:

Well, looks like I need to shorten the draglink. So on Thursday I am taking it down to my machinist. Also flexing it out some how snapped the spring to the gas pedal? Anyways, I am pleased with the driveway poser flexin'. We will see if it ever get's out and does it for real:doah:

I can't upload pic's so I have to do it old school and go through the photo gallery:doah:

It did not touch the rear fenders and the front inner fenderwell will just need some love taps with the mini sledge. I could of kept going with the hoist, but I was a little sketchy as it was rolling forward the higher it went. The rear spring swivels seem to be doing there job well. I am going to get another set of spring perches, cut them down the middle and weld them to the plate underneath them to brace it to the axle. Probably after Moab....anyways, the wife will be home this Thursday through Sunday. That way she can watch the kids while me and my buds attack the rest of the little things that need to be done. I was frustrated about the drag link so I figured the day shouldn't be a waste so we flexed her out a little:)

Is that your vent line in the rear stetched so tight?

Are you leaving the box on for the Bash?
