Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

I was sorta near you today (monticello) but I was visiting my parents all day. The burb did fine today also:D Used about 20 gal for a 250 or so mile day(forgot to reset OD:doah:) Doesent seen to be the best on MPG so far. but I was doing 75 alot and really have only a ballpark on miles driven. I'll have to recheck when I go to trea18's:waytogo:

Hmm, I was figuring on a little higher number their. Im scared to see what mines getting... Of course i cant fill it up because my check never came in the mail this week:doah:.

Picked up an 85 2wd. It will be donating A/C lines, condensor box, rear speakers(nice pioneers), and a few little odds n ends to the burb. I will be doing some mock up work in it for a possible dash project for thr burb too. Plus it will be my play/winter/dump/canoe haulin vehicle. and future engine/drivetrain donor for my next project.

Dang man, your always just pickin up vehicles lol. Do you still have that crew cab???

nope sold it awhile ago. I have had my license for 18 years and have had right at 40 some vehicles:rolleyes: cant say I made money on most of them. had a lot of fun with alot of them, and some I never even got to drive:doah: longest I've had one to date is 3 1/2 years. had 3 that long in fact. :D

Oh that is nothing, I had 30 at one point at the same time.
I am always buying trucks/cars to keep or sell or even part.
If it's a good deal and I have the money space, I buy it.
Never lost money on any, some made a lot of money, some made a little.:waytogo:

Well my 2wd is still sitting where I left it, and I havent done crap else to the burb. Dem wimins take all your time up dont they:rolleyes: but its worth it:D I can say that the power mods I've done are working great and economy is slightly noticably up even with out crunching numbers. I havent even licensed the 2wd yet let alone robbed parts off it for the burb. The burbs long term tests since the suspension was done have all gotten:waytogo::waytogo:. The springs get flexed pretty hard just gettin in my yard everyday so they've softened just a bit. Shocks could be better but thats for later. Rides WAY better than the blazer I had. I do rub something up front occasionally coming in the yard but still cant find it:dunno: That may change when I lower the bump stops too. All in all I'm happy as a pig in :poo:. :D Now I just gotta get up to peosta to get the wheel spacers, Ill be that way soon trea18:thumb: hope ya still have em:D

I did let the girlfriend drive it today,,,, Talk about pucker factor:eek1: I couldnt get it through to her how rare one of these in this condition is. Chicks just dont understand:haha:

between myself, my dad and my brother, dad owning the most, we are around 160, but only like 120 at the property we live at. At least weve got all the random trucks hes bought back to our properties.. at least I hope we have....

Mom doesnt like it, but we've always had food on our table and a roof over our heads.

Oh I know what your sayin lol. I put a nice shiny motor in and all shes got to say is, I thought you were gonna make that door stop squeeking?? :haha:

Glad to hear its runnin nicely:thumb:

Spacers are here:thumb: Blazers working good but still have a miner brake issue and a oil leak from somewhere:dunno:. The suburban is pretty much done I just have to go to FT Wayne, IN to get the lockdown and hand controls setup sometime. I'll through a teaser pic on my suburban thread.

Tried to start the burb today and it just spins and spins. Has major spark on #1 but wont even pop off. thinkin fuel issues. The only thing thats different is a new gas cap. I put it on 2 days ago 3 blocks from my house and drove home and parked it. never even hiccuped all that day. Got in today and not even a pop:dunno: took the gas cap off as a try and still nothing. I'm not even gonna mess with it tonight, too depressing. I'll have to do some investigating:doah:

Take off the air cleaner, and see if there is fuel spraying out of the injectors when cranking.

If not, you've either got a bad fuel pump, or bad ign module.

If you can hear the fuel pump spin up when you turn the key on and wait.....your pump should be ok.

Just went through the same thing. New ign module, and fired right up!

I've never been able to hear the pump:dunno: I've been under it when someone turned the key on and everything. never heard a thing. its always ran fine though. thats whats making me think pump. its probably always been weak. The ingition module your talking about is the one in the dizzy right? If so then everybody told me it would go out. I didnt think I'd get a regular spark if it was bad though:dunno:

Its deffinately a fuel issue. nothing visible in throttlebody key on or off pushing pedal or not:doah: I just cant believe that it ran and drove fine the other day, then in its own spot just didnt run again:confused: I really hope I dont have to drop the tank. its not exactly in the best place for it.

have somebody smack the tank with a hammer(or solid object) and turn the key, if the pumps seized up you can usually get a start or two out of it if you smack the tank. once they get old the whatchamathingamajig in the whozzeeewhatsee gets all seized up and needs a good ol smack to get it loose:thumb:

Ive done it before

So after useing the search fuction here I've gotten a LOT of ideas on where to look in the morning. I'll be doing a butt load of tests and checks and crossing my fingers that I dont have to drop the tank. If I do have to for any reason I'm changing the whole pump/sender unit so that I dont have to do it again anytime soon. Oh yeah, AND all this started when I went to look at the brake light switch. Which is also bad:doah:

Found it, The rubber line in the tank was completely broke. pump was facing 2" to the side of the pipe its supposed to hook to. I'm way glad it did it in the driveway:waytogo: Whole job took 3 hours from start to test drive

I didnt take it all the way out and it being so clean and unrusty sure helped. It came apart like a new one would:thumb:
