buying a 60 tommorow, and a 14ff LOOK

Maybe what he does NOW. 35s and a D60 is overbuilt in my opinion, but when those 35s wear out, he's going to want to go bigger, and it's better to be ready than have to swap all over again in my opinion.
That is a very good point, he may or may not want to go bigger in the future. But I would definantly bet that if later on down the road he desides he wants 38's and a 60 than I'm sure if he looked hard enough for a while he will find another good deal on a dana 60. Deals are always out there no matter what you are looking for.

Bobby, you don't 'wheel. You don't even know what 'wheeling is. That's ok, we've come to accept you as a member....but that doesn't mean I'd ever expect you to follow me down the trail, and that's fair enough.
You don't know me personally Tim, so don't tell me I don't know what this sport is all about. You are right, I wouldn't follow you down a trail. The stuff you probably do is more than I would want to take my K5 through. I enjoy taking it out and having fun in it without risking smashing it up. You don't have to come home with a caved in door and rear quarter panel to be able to say you 'wheeled.

I do agree that 35's and a 60 is probably overkill but with time, people want to try harder and harder trails. I would rather build now and be ready for w/e is to come then break and fix later. But i'm also going to have to side with rjfguitar and say that even if you aren't extreme and don't have crushed in body panels and such doesn't mean you don't wheel. I would love to do some extreme wheeling but I don't have the money or the place to do it. I do what I can...I climb some ditches, play in w/e mud is around, take on some hills.... nothing serious but I would still consider it wheelin cause you're out there having fun in your 4x4.

P.S. I also agree that this site needs a bit of a change in attitude. Its one thing to give suggestions and ask questions about ideas but its quite another to just directly attack that person because you disagree with their oppinion.

Bobby and Tim,

I have been lurking ck5 for a long time. I read posts by you two all the time and sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't. It is funny how many people see things differently. Maybe if we did know each other we could agree to disagree and go wheel together. I appologize for any comments I made that attacked your characters here or in the past.

As for the d60 in question, buy it if you want it, use it if you need it, do whatever you want... just use that K5 like you intended.

I think that Bobby and I actually get along aright, we've gotten away from the personal attack issues.

And at least we agree on what a good tow rig is.

Hey I agree with both of you on that too. To keep it somewhat on topic... I wish they still used 60's in them. J/K I'm glad they are trying to fix the ball joint issues they had with the 60's by going with the AAM's. I just wish my truck wasn't a first year guinea pig :p:

Wow all this atention over lil ol me????? Love love,, love is in the air, i smell 60 over there, im going to go,,,right now ,,its 2o clock, ya little sows. Ill be back, i have to go pick up Arnold Swartchnegger ,,,were going right now to look at the 60, Well bee baaakk:grin:

I say wait on the 60. I am swapping in a 1-ton rear, and just planned on doing an 8-lug swap on my D44 front. No way was I gonna shell out any kind of big bucks for a 60, 'cause I simply don't need one. I have found that with a lot of patience and looking in the right places, anything that usually costs an arm and a leg can be had for a very sweet deal. Which is just what happened to me. I found an excellent condition Ford HP 60 for $200 at pick-n-pulls half price weekend. Too good to pass up. I was then able to trade it straight up for a Dodge D60 in comparable condition. Sweet deal for me. I am planning on running 35" tires and using my K5 as a road-tripper, backwoods camper, old skid-road runner. That is all. No need for a 60. But, I happened to be in the right place at the right time, and scored me a 60 for super cheap. My advice is just bide your time, and keep a good eye out, eventually you'll get what you want.

hmmmm, is it a coincidence that the ones rallying against the D60 all run 10 bolts or D44s? perhaps a little jealousy? or not wanting to lose one of their own to the 1 ton club? :dunno:

If you read my post you'd see that I'm running a 60, but I still told him to wait. There are better deals to be had...

just buy the damn 60, dont listen to anyone here that tells you not to,

i didnt need one but i couldnt pass up a d60 and 14bff for 400 bills:D so now i have one

dude if i was you i'd hit up the pick and pull and do some looking around before you go and spend a grand... I bet i could find a 14bff and a d60 for 500 up here. I live in a small ass town tho.

Het guys , first off, everyone is all jumping on Bobby, but you should think twice.....

Bobby knows ,,and has know me for a while. When i was stranded in modesto, with no radiator,,,broke down, with my family, he went as far as removing his radiator, swapped it in my truck, and went withought , just so i could get down the road. Not to mention he probobly knows more about axles than half of you do, and transmissions for that matter, especially the 700r. Also ,,as far as some of the younger members go, ive yet to meet a guy that young who has his head screwed on straight, with old values.Compared to some of these guys out there,id like to snatch up and repeatedly pound there face in.

Hes just trying to watch my money spending, on something he feels i dont need. Thats what freinds do. Mabey he thinks i dont NEED the 60. But i want it:grin: .. i dont understand why if you dont have a 60 your considered a poser , etc.

Also, what happened to common corutesy?? Some people talk *** to people on the computer, like they dont think thery might see the other person at a blazer bash,,etc. I made that mistake once, i sold some springs to a guy, we got all bent at eachother on the computer, i said "Ok guy , why dont we box in the fron yard , whoever wins gets either the springs or the money"....NOT a good idea. Next thing i know, some 6ft 4 dude is at my door looking at me, and things were all weird. I opted not to do the boxing in the front yard then  , and on top of that, i felt like an ass.

Also, i thought what he said was valid. He just dosent think i need a 60.

I joined here thinking i would meet some guys with familys, that wanted to go out and wheel. And build our trucks up  theres a few, but not as many as i thought.Ive noticed theres some real punks in the place now.

ANYWAY:grin: ..........

Evrything looks good, no play in the shafts, d60 stamp, 456s, its all there. The 14ff is also 456s and open, were finalizing everything tonight,,hes even going to put new warns on there for me, and a newer tie rod. Im just waiting for that. They came from a 91 crew cab. I opened the carrier, and it says 41/9, on the ring gears, on both the 14ff and the 60.

Im in the 1 ton club again, and yes, ill have the axes in a few days. Later guys, Jacob:grin: ....also, this is supposed to fun, not a bash fest.If i wanted that id post over on PBB.I just want to talk with cool people, not di** head know it alls, who deserve an ass beating.

Well.......where are the pics FAHKER?????

:D

oh, yeah.....the hell with the rest, welcome to the 1-Ton Club! :thumb:
