Colby`s First gen Duramax 01 lb7

Congrats! I went to Universal Technical Institute and then did their International Tech Ed Program and graduated being a factory certified International Truck Technician. Great career path to take going into the mechanic field. My advice is to learn everything you possibly can from everyone and take every opportunity given you for training and ways to better yourself and your skills. And take pride in your work and the quality of it. I've worked with a lot of guys that it is just a job to them and maybe something they like to do but if you really are passionate about it and do great quality work and make a name for yourself then it will lead you places. I made it ten years with the truck shop and now have been with the power company five years and I'm making double my old salary and doing way less actual work and it's just an amazing career I have now.

Thanks! That’s good advice. :waytogo:
He’s really liking it! I think he will do well.

This cold weather is getting old... Colby’s truck decided it doesn’t like it either.
Block heater quit on friday so instead of replacing the factory one we got lazy and bought a lower rad hose heater. Didn’t take long to install and he says it works way better than the block heater.

He’s loving the new job! Bought a bunch more tools on the weekend and a new creeper. I talked him into “The Bone” It works nice, big wheels rolls great and comfortable.

I’ve been running a lower rad hose heater in my 97 for 8 years. Had the same problem, block heater calved and I wasn’t knocking a frost plug out.

Edit, I run the same creeper at work. It’s pretty a decent rig :pimp:

Colby showed up a work with it yesterday his boss said," Nice creeper! I want to replace mine with one just like it. How much was it?" I think that made Colby feel pretty good about bringing something totally different than the rest of the guys there. They all got Snap On creepers.

It was 200.00 at A.E.S. in Red deer.

Didn`t know you had that type of heater on your 97. I`m thinking if its Saskatchewan tested it should be good enough for Alberta too EH! :haha:[/QUOTE]

For the not so cold nights I set it on a timer for 5-6 hours. Seems to be all it needs, I think in the instructions it says they don’t need to run for 8 hours.

Hell I had one in my 2010 impala for a winter before it got written off.
Just installed one in our Korean knock off new holland tractor at work as well, hell our yard apes reported that it started much better than before.

Colby is doing good and he continues to buy more tools He went and got a few things off the Matco truck and after we talked him out of a used Milwaukee impact he went and bought this bad MoFo.

Milwaulkee`s newest version of their 1/2 inch impact with 1400ft pounds of braking force.

Matco 88 tooth ratchets

The milwaulkee is tits! I used it yesterday to change the pinion on my Duramax It was so easy with that impact! Worth the price in every way. I definitely need one! For now he said he`ll bring it home on the weekends when we think we`ll need to use it. :waytogo:

Colby changed the Racor water seperator filter on his truck Saturday afternoon.
While bleeding the filter head the plastic bleed screw broke. Luckily we found a bolt to replace it.
I looked in my bins for another one today, nope nothing, I only had the one. Super lucky!
I’ll order some proper replacements. Never really worried about it before until this one broke and we were Focked.
