D44 Dana 44 & 14BFF 14 Bolt Full Floating Rebuild (Complete!)

Based on the link on Pirate, yeah, I'd try just a hair less pinion shim and see where that puts you.

Brake/carb cleaner is the easiest way to clean the pattern grease off quickly. Q-Tips and paper towels help too.

This is what I've been using.:D

I used to have a copy of the bible some where... it disappeared.:(

I'll try a little less shim tomorrow, so late.

Yeah, sorry... that's the link I meant. That's what I have pulled up too.

I could swear that my DVD had it opposite, but I could be wrong. I have my 10-bolt DVD connected to a little monitor in the garage so I can watch while I work. :D

It has everything except the 14BFF...

You should thin out the marking compound with a little gear oil. It will make the pattern easier to read.

Thin the compound and run another pattern. Get some better pics and post them up. From the pics you have above, I would say, get the pinion about .002 deeper into the ring gear and you "should" be good to go.

It'll be atleast Sunday... drinking and a mud bog has taken over a majority of my weekend, but I'll get it done.:D

If anyone from CK5 ever wants to come down and drink (especially you) I'll find a place for you to sleep for the night no matter what. Hell I'll even buy the booze.:D

I apparently have several weekends available throughout the summer. I'll figure it out and let you know.:deal: I have been known to drink my weight in Beam though so I'll supply my own.:D

Ok, made sure everything was torqued to spec, thinned the paint with a little gear oil and ran the pattern again... what do you guys think?

theyre a little blurry, not like i can read it though. put your camera on macro mode and maybe it can show sokething these dont. macro is usually a little flower.

That's gonna require me to walk outside again... and then back... damn it!:haha:

The first and the last aren't to bad.:o

It is a little hard to tell because of the angle you took the pics at, but is the pattern centered top to bottom on the coast side?

It almost looks like you may be able to get the pinion a little closer to bring the pattern a little deeper into the root of the gear. I would change it no more than .002 though, like I said in my last post.
At the same time, If you don't feel like messing with it any longer, then run it. It looks to be a pretty good and centered pattern.....You might not get any better than you have there.
