They are my favorite thing in fabbing now lol. If I make something, i make sure i can put that $400 in dimple dies to work

I am very surprised that's the route you took there. Typically your fab work has been very nice and on point. This here just doesn't cut it for me. Hate me if you wish, but IMO that's just not quality building. I can think of several options to fix your shackle angle off the top of my head, but never did that one come into play. I am sure that will be strong enough don't get me wrong. Just not a quality fix to me. IMO.
 
For all the time and thought you put into designing the rest of your suspension for you to weld that extra bushing sleeve to the hanger instead of moving it back seems like a step in the wrong direction. If you don't like drilling holes so much why not just unbolt the hanger, move it back however far you need and then weld IT to the frame? You are obviously a competent welder. IMO you have detracted from build quality with this band aid fix. Not bashing you here but respectfully pointing out what I am sure everyone else is thinking.

This was one of my thoughts. But honestly I don't buy the "I don't like drilling holes" thing, that's all part of a build. Got to take the good and the bad. Not an excuse to cut corners.
 
Damn lol. Bunch of haters.

That was indeed easier than drilling holes. My rear frame is all bent funny so moving the hangers is a no go because it won't sit flat on the frame.

I think it was a fine fix. It's just a bushing. It's welded top, bottom, plate in the bottom.



If you don't like it, don't ride with me.

Seriously?

I had 6 fab bushing sets sitting on the bench. This was a much easier solution than drilling 12 new holes. And no it was not cutting corners.


And welding a spring hanger is dumb. What if I want different springs later?

I never said I was done with it. It was midnight and I wanted to get the truck sitting on its tires.
 
A pretty good fabricator once called some work that I did..."not my best effort"


Down deep, I knew he was right, but didn't want to admit it.


In the end, I remade my work and felt a lot better about it.

How tweaked could your frame possibly be to not sit flat when the hanger is moved back? If it is then flatten it back and move your hanger. Your fix will work... looks like a bandaid imo though.

I didn't say it was my first choice . . . I would have sucked it up and moved the hanger back and drilled 12 new holes and fixed the frame if it was so tweaked. I was simply offering an alternative to your "I don't like drilling holes" mantra. Who cares if it will "hold" when it looks like hell especially sitting next to all your other top notch fab work? I am a union electrician and as such I practice a thing called craftsmanship and pride in my work . . . in all things I do. I know that you also generally have pride in your work and that is why you are getting the negative response. From what I can tell, this is VERY out of character for you.
 
He's not done guys. Let him finish it, and you may change your mind. If he covers the first bushing hole, and braces the back I think it will look just fine.
 
cut those rear shock tabs off the axle already! :D Do it now, cause I'm not working on my trucks, something needs to get done today!!!
 
Why cover the other bushing hole? Right now it is an adjustable piece.

I'll certainly agree and I'm sure you can admit that you could have done something "better". But I also agree and I'm sure others could admit that your solution will work out just fine and you should only change it if you ever get the nagging desire to do so. In other words, do something better if you want cause you know you can, or just run it because it will be fine and you know you can! Lol party on Wayne!
 
If the fab gods say it will hold up...who cares what it looks like?
