Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Nope, your an ass, K5's are only made to get banged off trees and climb rocks....

I love the dunes though. If my truck wasn't all banged up I think I would like to make it a nice dune cruiser.

yah man no kidding my Internet feelings are hurt.

Got the ferd 57s today.

They actually bolted right in, keeping the axle in the exact same spot (just had to move the pin to the front perch hole, was in center).

Now I just need to address the shackle end. I think by swapping the DIY4X hangers from side to side, the offset should put me pretty darn close...

Got Droop???? :thumb:

These will actually use all the droop in my shock. Thats like easily 3 more inches of droop than what the 52s had. Ill have to strap it I guess.

very cool,I have been looking into doing the 57's as well. I'm curious to see how close it is with the brackets flipped and what the ride hight will be.

It shipped from Kansas City, so i assume so :dunno:

Ordered sunday night. Here at 11 am this morning. Not bad.

Yeah, that's them. I ordered Tuesday night, shipped Wednesday, got today. Mine are 54" HD S10 rear springs for my front.

oh I did I just felt the need to point it out.

Oh i knew it was gonna be bad. I just wanted a starting point. And to see if the front offset would be even close...

I think flipping the shackle hangers, will do the job.

Hey Adam you could try to put a leaf spring clamp on the back. Getting the main leaf and second leaf clamped should limit you just enough it looks like

I was thinking that as well, I dont like how they seperate that much, and that may allow for not running a strap...

How do you add those? Just make one and tack it to the end of the spring? I cant see welding on the end of a spring being a big deal.

First priority will be to get the shackle flips switched sides. Im thinking if I use some thread rod into the nut plates on the back side, one at a time, that i can slide them off and back on without dropping tank.....

Then i need to get back to the cage business lol. If its nice next week I will go out there after work all week. I wont get much shop time this weekend. Maybe sat night and sunday morning a little bit...

Just google leaf spring clamps. I have used the ones that are 2 piece and you just bend the tabs out. Those are kind of a pain to get tight though.

Spring steel has a very specific temper. I don't think a tack weld would do much but it might create a weak point.

I like those alot I might look into putting them in the front of Horton

Just get some strap or vatozone has clamps that bolt on, plus that will help wheel hop and save that upper spring like I mentioned. See told us they droop like a Mofo you are gonna like these vs stockers they work pretty well, just soft is all..

Might not Adam. (I mean, we all hope it's that easy)

I run 56s with a 6" shackle and the angle is pretty damn good. With the 57s, it might need a longer shackle :eek1: or move the frame bracket back ~1" :dunno:

I already have 6" shackles, id have no issue making a longer one either. As long as it doesn't make the rear sit too tall.
