Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Early in the season and later in the season yes. Not all night but a few hours.

Awesome!

I think it is something that either people will love, or hate. I doubt there is going to be much in between :D

I'm mediocrely tolerant of its overall appearance. I don't love it. I don't hate.

It just is. The bumper abides.

This. I am neither loving it nor disliking it. It's somewhere in the middle.

Here is what I think your shooting for, same truck they added this then removed it at some point.. I like this look personally. View attachment 192997

This is a way more aesthetically pleasing design to me. See how the lower supports meet the stinger bar at the main tube to eliminate a dead node and the lower is straight instead of bent and angled? Has a sleek look to it while still offering very good protection and having the straight engine cage tie ins both hides them better and makes for a stronger design.

I think you could keep most of your current design and do what Ryoken said about the 45 or 30 bend back in the grille and I would add a gusset tube from your lower support up to the stinger termination at the main tube. I think the latter would really help the overall headon and profile views.

I don't want to copy someone else's bumper designs. That would have been easy to do, but instead I stared at mine and thought "what can I do to make this totally different". I realize that different tends to be taken as bad in some cases, but that's ok by me.

I think it will look great in the end.

You can make anything your own even if you start with a base design. Personally, I like to see what other people have done and then take the ideas/portions that I like, change what I don't, come up with new stuff on my own, etc. Some things in my build are 100% custom right out of my brain, no research. Some have been researched and I didn't see anything I liked so I did my own creation anyway. Different is cool, but I am not one of those guys who wants different just for the sake of different. :dunno:

I'm not sure what you mean.

Quick MS Paint mashup should help clarify things (kinda ):

The dimensions that I've highlighted on the sides are larger than the corresponding dimension in the center. Looking at it again, the mark on the right is too far outboard (so it's hitting the radius :doah:), but the one on the left is still on the straight. Not sure if the chrome is curved or your pipe isn't straight, but it makes the pipe look droopy to have the center "higher" than either of the sides.

I will add that your bumper is different and weird, but I'm kinda digging it. :)
