Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Mine is boring now that I actually just play with it all the time. I understand lol.

Ive got more things I want to do to it, but right now, why bother.

Most people fail to reach this point of their build, or realize it when they reach it. Cheers to you for enjoying the hell out of it!

Thanks! Its by far my most enjoyable part of the whole build.

On a side note, I did put 12 more supertrapp disks in each muffler yesterday. It actually sounds like an exhaust now.

Boring as a build thread, but I feel you should continue to post use pictures and stories to a build thread. Makes it more complete.

Definitely.

I desperately do need a center console. As soon as I can buy my shrinker stretcher setup, ill be able to start that. But the kit I want is like $700 lol.

Quite expensive for a console.

Its not just going to be for my console. Its a very useful metal shaping tool that I want for other projects. Just so happens that my vision for my center console, requires beadrolling, wavy flanges (shrinker stretcher) and solid rivets.

I have 2 of the 3.

These give kind of the idea in my head. But more wavy, and no welding.

Don't you have a 4wd shifter that is in that area ? Be kind of hard to shift under the console.

Going to add an extension to come up and through the console. It will be more convenient anyways as currently I am using my foot to kick it in and out of 2wd and 4wd due to the harnesses.

You will probably get it done before me but my plan was to build a linkage for the t case and put it where I want and not increase the throw

So I cleaned all the signs off of the blazer today, and fired it up for the first time since memorial day.

I think the trans is blowing fluid into the tcase again. The tcase leaks, but it was full even with a big puddle underneath it. Trans was a little low.

Took it for a drive, and when I got back, just for the hell of it, because my dad had mentioned it while at the dunes for some reason, but the hubs were super hot. Like you could not hold your hand on them for more than a split second.....

I jacked it up and popped the lockouts off and the outer bearing on the driver side first. I did all new bearing right before memorial weekend, and I was sad to find the bearing to be a nice shade of blue and yellow.... It got hot....

It wasnt chipped, so I repacked and put it back together. I guess I have always been tightening them way to much after asking about torque specs....

Cranked them down, backed off till loose, and then torqued to 35 ft lbs on the inner nuts. Greased the front end and took it for a drive.

The hubs were luke warm at best. So I think they will be good now.
