Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

The dirt was mean.

It bent my rocker panel when the step bottomed out on a peak.

I bent it back. :D

I need to. Quite honestly, I don't even notice they are there until someone mentions them. I've never really cared for them, but never really took the time to remove them...

The unfortunate part is that the rockers are fiberglass patched, and it goes right over top of the step mounts lol.

Cut them out and weld in tube. When are you going to off-road this thing?

And wait there's more!

The 2x6 will stiffen it all up even more. And it will give you a base to put stringers to the frame when you attach everything solidly

Looking good!
What tire pressure you running? I tried 20 psi and it seemed to work decent on ethel.

dirt stuff, all the above. tried 15 but it just folded under the weight of the diesel, so I bumped it to 20.. @Deuling has some squishage going that's why I was wondering.

I think I was at like 18.

That reminds me. I should get my CO2 tank filled before dune party...

What size of tire are you running? I found I could deflate the back tires a whole lot further than the front ones (before they started looking sad). With stock 235/75R15 tires I ran 16psi in the back and 25 in the front.

Should have some new numbers for you soon, too. :thumb:

Do you even notice a difference at 20 psi?

There is a lot more traction to be gained by dropping lower.

The street tires Deuling runs now must have more sidewall flex.
