Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Looks good Adam. Your welds are really looking great. :waytogo:

A little advise from an old fat guy that crawls around everyday....

I see ya all the time with the respirator, face mask, gloves and so on.... then I see those dirty knees. You really should protect those while you're crawling around. You're not going to built like Gumby forever.

50 hours a week I wear these and they are awesome. They go on like clockwork before anything happens at work or in the garage. :deal:

Take it for what it's worth. :tongue1: :D

Those look nice.

I've never been a fan of most knee pads because they tend to cut off the circulation on the back side of my leg. These look like they have a hinge though? Maybe that would help.

Hitch looks fine. Though I slightly question the sanity of towing a full sized truck with a short wheelbase lifted K5 on soft springs with a 700R4.

It'll work, but more nuns will be at risk than normal.

you'll be fine short distance and slow with that setup.

good have a tow point for the heeps and ferds too

hey @Deuling, what temp does your engine run at (at the dunes and cruising the street if you know both)? Also, what thermostat you running in it and what is your cooling system? I have a sbc 400 that sticks around 200-210, and I'm pretty sure I run 195 thermostat, but not 100% sure on that.

Thanks! Jacob

I went back and searched before posting and saw that you put in a Northern radiator, when you did the 305 to 408 swap.

Hey Adam, the hitch looks good but I thought they made us use a rigid tow bar now?

Is that just a rumor, did I make a rigid tow bar for no reason? :doah::rotfl:

Yes rigid tow bar is a must. No straps allowed towing thru the entrance. We used a rigid tow bar to tow the Smurf in behind the blazer.
