Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

I'm betting that after the first time you use them, you won't want to go back...

What pisses me off is people saying I'm lying about not wanting to drill holes.

But do not call me a liar or say I'm making excuses because that's not true.

I assume these two comments are directed at me. If they are, I will say that I never meant to call you a liar. I hate drilling holes too brother. I get it. I think your added plate was a good idea, and had you added that to begin with I wouldn't have even posted. But your post too me seemed to say "I know I could do better, but I didn't want to drill holes" it just came off as justification. Like I mentioned before, no hard feelings, if there is, I certainly didn't mean there to be.

No biggie. I got butthurt and ill admit it. Never experienced that before lol.

I was just super stoked to get the thing sitting on its own and was thinking of adding the side gussets later.

Im hoping so too.

I hope that they are not too soft of a spring rate though. I fear they will not have enought "spring back" to keep the tire planted in the really rough stuff.

Right on man, glad we sorted that out. I certainly understand the late nights with a goal in mind.
I like the new rear tires. When I run the dunes here in colorado, a lot of guys have good success with tires like or close to that. Not really big on the sand myself, just to damn far to drive for me. Dunes are 6 hours away though the mts. I just throw a set of paddles on the quads, trucks sit at the camp. Any plans for something to match up front?

If I find a good deal on some real paddles, I may throw these up front.

To be honest I was hoping that these would be 14.50 wide as the tires say 14.50 x 15 right on the side... They come out to 12" wide.

I will probably try them out, but if they do not make a noticeable difference, I will be able to sell them for probably more than what I paid in a heartbeat around here.

what Wade said. Pretty much fail until then.. Ps your shackle isn't at a steep enough angle. It will invert without stop..

I thinks deuling wants to drive his truck this decade.

My internet friends like to call me, "weird shackle hanger deuling" ???

Your tuition pile needs to get a bit larger.......:doah:

It's a slippery slope when you start allowing yourself to solve problems with fabrication like that. You are a better builder than that, and should hold yourself to a higher standard.

You got the truck back on all fours.... Good for you. Enjoy the victory. But write yourself an "IOU" for a correct rear shackle hanger after you get back from the dune trip. :deal:

I still see nothing wrong with it. And have no plans to "fix" it.

But I'm over the spring hanger debate. I'm not spending any more time on it.

I need to work on cage.

Look on the bright side...Next thing Ya know, you're going to get a cool nickname out of this. Lol :pimp:

Yes, besides skinny pants. :thumb:

Get her done sonny.

I showed your shackle hangers to a buddy of mine he LOVED them. Course he is a huge bird hunter and likes shotguns alot.

It would be interesting to see if you could turn paddles. I know a couple guys that have had paddles they say it sure sucks the power out.

I think you will like those scat traks. Not sure if they are skat traks but they look like em

They are Desert Traks.

They are pretty worn down. Only about 3/8" to 1/2" of "scoop" height.
