Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

just gotta bang more hr's son.... ;)

i'll say this.. I don't even know the dude, but... you should be buying that shop dude a steak dinner every damn Saturday night....  :haha:

Not sure why you are going to all of this work. These guys did not need all of this. And they were in Mi.

Finally sat down to watch this. It's really neat. Thanks for sharing. If we ever do make it to Holton, we will likely come past these dunes en route.

I haven't ridden with Adam, and I haven't ridden in the Dunesmobiles. But reading through this thread makes me think that Adam is trying harder to need the cage than they were. :dunno: :haha:

Lol. I did all the inside of one of his big plumbing vans last year. Built shelves, ladder racks, stocked, inventoried, and labeled 40k of plumbing parts/tools/etc. The deal was I do that and he pays for all my cage stuff. After we tallied up the total labor when I was done, it came out to about $800. Haven't even spent half of that on material. I told him to just put the other half towards me using his shop, tools, electricity etc.

So I needed to come up with a low profile "no lift" mount to the sliders for the rear of the seats. It needs to go on the bottom side of the slider. But this creates a challenge because you cant have any flanges on the back side, because they will hit the sliders when you go forward....

Came up with this, actually using dimples as strength. I may use some square tube that could sandwich the sliders on the outside, preventing any inward force and bending.

The front mounts can go on top of the sliders, so I can make them much more beefy.

What say the critics. Im sure it will kill many a buss full of Nuns.

NOT ENOUGH DIMPLES . . . it will never hold :D

It's like I got a fever, and the only prescription is more dimples :haha:

Seriously though, I don't have any experience with suspension seats or slider brackets so I don't have any real expertise or constructive input on this one :thumb:

If you dont have any experiance with dimpling steel, you wont know that it deforms the $hit out of it when you are done. And need to bend it back straight. It took a 2x4 and all my weight out on the ends jumping to get the thing straight again.... I think ill be good for just the outer 1" from bending

Man I wish I woulda made better seat mounts when I put mine in.. It's crazy how much movement is felt with crappy seat bases and mounts. Good stuff it's the prettiest seat mount that won't be seen..

I paid 160 for all for SD seats and maybe 50$ for mounting FTW!

Adam, you can use them for cupholders as well!

That's why I take pics

Now to figure out how to do the front. It can be a bit higher, but the slider tube arm needs to not hit the mount. That could get annoying, and possibly pinch fingers.

Are you planning on adding center supports for the cross tubes the seats are sitting on? I had to add some because there was some flex in the gross tube. Now each seat sits on a separate rectangular frame tied into the A and B pillar hoops.
