Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Lame! Graduations are so boring! I am seriously just dieing to watch this year's go pro vids of you and nate with your newly dialed in suspension and stuff! Ugh! It's going to he so awesome!

I'm just excited to stop sitting in the seat making vroom vroom noises.

No fun today. I get to go sit in the Vanandel Arena and watch Skye and 2,999 other GVSU students graduate. What a waste of a beautiful day out to sit inside for like 4 hours :doah:

I hope there is wifi.

I concur. Not sure why folks make a formal occasion out of what should be a celebration. I haven't met one yet that actually felt like a celebration by the time the ceremony was over. :dunno:

But congrats anyway. :waytogo:

Good luck.. Graduations are super boring for 3.59 hours and not for the 59 seconds your friend or family is graduating.

I have been to KISS, Aerosmith, Motley Crüe, and multiple other concerts and multiple monster truck shows at the vanandel arena. Never once have I seen it close to full.... Until today.

Holy crap, and good lord did that take a long time. The students filled the rest of those chairs too. They were still walking in.

Which school?

Grand Valley.

You wish you had the Wonderchicken's finely tuned suspension

Yes and your wicked comfy seats :D

Well the welder ran out of wire today after brett used it for like 5 minutes lol.

So i changed my mood from fabbing, to cleaning shop, and then finally swapping out my blown motor mounts with the ones I got from Richard months ago.

I think I get the record for killing a set of ACDelco motor mounts with a fairly stock 400 sbc in like 5000 miles :pimp:

And I was feeling a very roadkill vibe from the no hood....

Oh yah, I also removed the very last piece of the PO goodness from the blazer. And replaced it with silver lake related stuff

Nope, my delcos looked like that after ~1500 miles. They just don't last when you're twisting things up real bad. I could watch as my oil pan came closer and closer to my crossmember :doah::haha: Kert to the rescue

Yah me too! I'm hoping to get some cool dual action blazer shots as last year Deulings blazer was done for the season by time I got my blazer so they have never run together.

I am replacing all 3 mounts this week. So bad that the fan rubs the shroud on the bottom. Trans mount is flat out broke.

I ordered a poly trans mount last night. Hoping that and these engine mounts will be the last ones I need for a long time.

Got out for a few hours after work. The plasma cutter had an internal air leak, so i spent a bunch of time tearing that apart and fixing it. Loose fitting.

Then I cut these gussets out for the b pillar to floor bar bracing, cut a 2.5" hole in them and then got out the behemoth of all dimple dies. My favorite that i have only used on richards bumper so far, the 2.5, its like a 5" diameter hunk of steel

But then I didn't like them. So i made these instead. Ill find a use for them im sure anyways.

Adam I think using those diagonal strut bracing is the way to go....I got a bunch of prototypes that I used on mine...supposed to add to the strength of the structure immensely!

Yah. For looks I really wanted the plate gusset. But after staring at it, in an area that is already gonna be hard enough to get a ton of strong triangulation in (cab area). These just seemed much stronger. Probably do the same at the base of the a pillars when I get them in.

Yah I started adding bars like that this weekend as well.

So I needed to get the harnesses hooked up and that required more tube.

Wasn't sold on the bar straight across. I need people in the rear seat to actually be able to have an exit point if we do per chance, catch on fire etc....

Dad showed up at the shop by surprise and we did some measuring and came up with this.

Stopped at A&A after work and got some goodies.

This is dads "its PERFECT" pose :D

All the way back

Pretty much "driving/riding position"

None of it is welded. I had to hold it up with my knee or other things to get the pics. Just a general idea of it.

Was also super cool working with my dad for a bit. Don't get that very often.
