That's too bad.

I was waiting for that. I've never been in the blazer and said I wish I had ac so I am not too concerned. Even in my car that has AC, I just find myself rolling the windows down instead.

You want it? lol,

I did the same thing. Now ditch the rest of the stuff and you have easier engine access near the firewall. Also, adding the manual kick panel vents makes a big difference too when you can't have the windows down in the rain or something.

Wait until you have a wife....I HAVE to put AC BACK into my truck :doah:

If i find a heater box thing from a non ac truck I may do that.

Also I REALLY want those kick panel vents like you have. They are awesome.

Its a blazer it has built in air cooling :D

Ok update. 3rd PS pump was the charm. And as an added bonus, one of my spare alt belts fits perfect on the ps side!!! So only one belt to carry so thats awesome!!!

And man am I glad you arseholes got all arseholy about actually doing real timing. This thing runs better than it ever has!!!

It ran so good I treated it to a 10 gallon 93 octane smoothie :woot::woot::woot: Im so damn happy lol.

Only issue is if you just step right on the pedal and dont ease in for a sec, it has a deadspot where it kinda pukes for half a second and then takes off. What causes this?

Dumping high octane fuel in it, without adjusting the timing, will cause you to lose power.

Well its a good thing i can adjust timing now :D

If i plan on running premium what can i adjust timing to safely?

To much air and not enough fuel or vise versa.

So what is the cure? More/less jetting?

Or can the metering rod springs come into play at that point?

I put the pink springs and those are the 2nd stiffest springs for the rods.

Last i checked my engine made 15hg of vacuum, and was told to cut that in half and run the spring closest to that. So i went with pink which is 7hg. The silver spring is 8hg.

Metering rods can adjust how much goes into the jets which will limit fuel to a degree. But rods and jets kind of get matched.

Does your carb have a part throttle adjustment for the rods? May want to adjust that it will lower or raise the rods further into or out of jets.

But i would put the gas you will run all the time and tune on that.

I know on the quadrajets it's because the secondaries open too soon and the engine hasn't developed the velocity through the carb yet to pull the proper mix of fuel/air through the carb. The fix on them is to adjust the upper secondary butterfly to get it to stay closed longer.

Sounds very plausible. Im not %100 positive the AF mixture gauge I have is accurate, but when this happens the gauge jumps to lean for a split second. Which would explain what you are saying.... Lots of air for a split second...

So how do you make them open later? You would have to make the weights a bit lighter?

Also, so you know in the future. higher octane gas has lower BTU's in it than regular so you are better off using the lowest octane gas that you can run without getting detonation. Premium isn't "premium" for a motor that isn't timed for it.

It had 20 gallons of regular. I just put premium in so i could raise it a bit till i get more comfy with the timing. Once i get it more tuned it will go back to regular. Im going to get a legit AFM setup that can get the mixture tuned in better.

I don't know much about Edelbroc carbs but does it have an accelerator pump? Holleys have it and what it does is artificially richen the mixture upon throttle tip in. It does that by use of an arm and cam off of the throttle bracket to squirt a little extra fuel in to smooth out large quick throttle changes. They have a set of different cams offering different amounts of fuel at different times.
I hope that tid bit actually applies to your Edelcrap carb :doah:

I was talking ahout the metering springs. Sorry i wasn't clear.

I could try a lighter spring. They only take a second to change. Thanks!

It does yes. And now that you say that, the linkage for that has three holes on it that determine travel from the throttle linkage. Right now it's in the middle hole, I could try and move it.

Richen the acc pump and put the next lightest springs in. If that doesn't do it, go to the next thinner metering rod on the major diameter
