Wow, that's crazy. I did notice the K5 gate says with crate and the truck hate did not. Did I read that right?
I don't have springs on the Jimmy's gate. I can barely close it. 180 pounds is what I remember reading. A truck tail gate is no big deal to lift off.

Having had all the options (full Blazer tailgate, gutted Blazer tailgate, and a K30), I'd bet that the gutted Blazer tailgate and the pickup tailgate are pretty close in weight.
Full Blazer tailgates are MUCH heavier.

Maybe I make custom tube gate that will brace the bedsides, and then I can put big aluminum beadrolled panel in. Bet it could weigh under 30 lbs...

I haven't run a tailgate for a couple years now w/o and issue. with my safari top and regular top, but when I finish my cage I plan on tying the cage into the bed sides. Also thought about tying it into the B pillar as well if I ever decide to cut the top completely off.
