Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

I honestly don't know :flipoff7:

Wait...what? You're combining ignorance and obscurity in the same posting? :shocked:

Taken from Kenny's shipping weights thread:

BODY/INTERIOR:
Blazer Tailgate, Power Window, Glass, Hinges, Everything with crate: 194#
Blazer rear glass with metal strip: 35#
Pair of aluminum running boards for 77 Jimmy, including packaging: 25# approx 65" x 5" x 12"
Pickup tail gate with full stainless trim panel and body molding trim on it: 65#

Sounds like you would be losing 130# (minus "crate" weight :dunno:) if these figures are correct. :thinking:

@Deuling

Wow, that's crazy. I did notice the K5 gate says with crate and the truck hate did not. Did I read that right?

I don't have springs on the Jimmy's gate. I can barely close it. 180 pounds is what I remember reading. A truck tail gate is no big deal to lift off.

Having had all the options (full Blazer tailgate, gutted Blazer tailgate, and a K30), I'd bet that the gutted Blazer tailgate and the pickup tailgate are pretty close in weight.

Full Blazer tailgates are MUCH heavier.

I haven't run a tailgate for a couple years now w/o and issue. with my safari top and regular top, but when I finish my cage I plan on tying the cage into the bed sides. Also thought about tying it into the B pillar as well if I ever decide to cut the top completely off.

a pu gate is a no-brainer...
