Which brings up that crappy stuff pictured hanging from under my dash. Deleting the heater box and getting the console/speaker housing/dash extension done before long. Been putting that off aince the dash went in 2 years ago. SMH...

Copy.

This is about the only picture of the home made shifters I could find.

Yeah, they came through the hole for the factory shifters. No boot.....

This is where I started with mine. 1/4" plate for the throws, 1.375" OD DOM for "hubs" and 5/8" OD .095 wall chromo for the levers.

At that point, I was planning on using the 50 cal casings so the hubs were machined to 7/8". They would be 1.125 if I were to start over but spacers should do just fine. These pivot on a 5/8" hardened/ground shaft that was a shift fork rail in a np208 in its previous life.

Yeah, I remember seeing the pictures on Facebook. I didn't realize you were going to light them.

Heya, guys. I've found something. Priced right too. Pedals & all included. Opinions welcome.... well with some restraint of course. Heh.

Well, it's mine. Couldn't pass it up. The 15yo kid I got it from is actually building a k10 from bunper to bumper with some help from his dad. Don't misunderstand though because this kid is pretty sharp and plans on boxing his frame and stabbing a stong but stockish small block in. He has it all mapped out including built 10-bolt axles and 35" tires. His plan, once completed, is to have a really nice driver.

That's where the transmission swap came in. He's switching to his preferred automatic so I was able to scoop the complete setup less flywheel & clutch. This thing is complete from the tailshaft to the pedals. All for the price of 2 bennies. Not too shabby. Best part is that my Strong Box and all will bolt right up.

I sourced a clutch kit and flywheel from NAPA for about $340 so bye-bye th400.

6.2 / 4spd is fairly rare isn't it? Should make a neat combo.

I am parting a c30 now with factory 6.2/465 combo . 1982 truck .

tell the kid diy4x.com has frame box kits .

and do you need a flywheel for the 6.2 ?

I do need a flywheel. The one I was about to order would be coming from Kansas City, Kansas and cost $168.00 on a stock order.

This kid's old man has a full resto shop. It's how he pays the bills. No boxing kit needed because he does that stuff all the time. I drooled over a couple sweet c10 show trucks he has UTK and a '70 2wd blazer that's solid as a rock but getting a more modern chassis and all for the lad's sister.

The cool thing about those folks is that the dad offers advice and tips but that's it unless it's showing the kids how to use certain tools. That's raise'n 'em right! The best thing about it is that these kids had the choice of a modern cookie-cutter car or a classic..... and chose building a classic. That's freak'n awesome.

Not "rare" per se'. I just called my man Bernie at NAPA, asked for a flywheel and clutch kit for an '86 K30 with 6.2/465, and he did his clickety-click'n and gave me a price and availability. The clutch kit is in stock here but the flywheel is 2 days out.

Sm465 shift knob can't stay stock and the chrome on the lever surely can't stay. I may get my friend at www.combscustomcoating.com to put wrinkle black on it when he does the triple-stick stuff.... but that knob is bugging me.

I wouldn't mind another m-55 casing like the triple-stick. That would offer a pretty good sized flat spot on top for resting the palm on. I could also light it just as I'm doing the triple-stick knobs.

Another option that I considered was a round grenade. The idea is to stick to the "theme" but I don't want to modify the 465 lever itself. That sets limits. I'm still feeling the 20mm I think but might wait until it's in the rig before making the call.
