Dirtroadoutlaw's '86 M1009

This is a driveshaft that I pieced together today from some old, worn out stuff in the junk pile. The rig is just too heavy to be pushing for my taste. This will allow me to drive in & out of the shop while work continues until I get my 1410 shafts completed.

Cut this off of this old shaft

Cut this shaft down and added the slip to it. I like to use stencil stock for a wrap-around because I can't ever remember to buy an actual wrap-around.

Hmmm. Been doing forum posts for years with no issue. Maybe it looks different on PC than tapiocatalk but it looks fine from my phone. I'll look at that.

Thanks, though!

funny guys , was just trying to help.... it shows up on a standard PC as text, pic, pic with no spacing between anything.. making the posts exceptionally wide left to right..

Ain't no thang, bro. This does, however, make me hate Tapatalk even more... If that is even possible. Its still easier than doing this via Web on the smartphone though.

Paul, would you check post #242 again? Did that fix it? I'm not going into that den of @$$holes that some around here refer to as "the office" to look on a computer.

I leave my laptop at home these days since my ignorant boss messed up the Wi-Fi and is too cheap to fix it. I'll stop with that since that topic's expanse entails enough info on its own to require its own website.

yeah, it's better, readable now.. the pics are all up to down now at least... it looks like you could still use hitting the enter button a few times after each text/sentence... making paragraphs per se.. tho I have no clue on tapatalk if that's even doable..

hehe, den of a$$holes.. need to remember that.. :haha:

The paragraphs are legit on the tapiocatalk. It's pretty ridiculous for there to be a difference. Someone needs to develop a better interface than tapatalk. Kinda starting to tick me off.

it seemed to work there.. sentence, than a space, than the pic...

beef... 2 x 2 x .250? I ran some of that on my K5 one...

The tube is 2 x 2 x .1875, padna. $30 for this vs $75.90 for a stick of 2 x 2 x .250. Times is hard, my brotha. Times is hard. $45 doesn't seem like much but it is for me right now.

No longer than the crossmembers will be, these won't fail me. They'll be "laddered" too so no worries.

that stuff will do you fine.. the 1/4 I ran was WAY overkill and unneeded.. but it's what I had kicking around, as I'm sure you can understand..

Yeah, I feel ya on that one for sure. I have lots of stuff in my stash but either too short or structurally insufficient. The bad thing is when you go look a second time hoping you overlooked what you need on the first go then realize you used it up on a previous project months ago....

I'm using formed channel inside the frame rails so there's opposing channels at the c/m mounting points on the frame. The c/m's themselves will be flanged on the ends and mount to those channels. This will allow the whole enchilada to drop out from the bottom. A stop by a friend's shop to pick up the flange plates & channels, a stop at the bolt house for flanged weld-nuts, and a package from Kert will 'bout near complete the parts acquisition for that project.

I bled the new master, slave, and hose as an assembly then got the slave buttoned up. I also got the holes prepped in the firewall. That was a bit of a pain due to the fact that I had previously used the middle dimple as a pilot for a grommet hole. The problem is that I had to unhook and re-route my pyrometer thermocouple, water temp wire, OP tube, boost tube, trans temp capillary, and some other wire that I can't remember the function of.

The temporary rear driveshaft is now installed as well. The fluids are topped off, speedo cable removed, tc & SB put in high, big ratchet straps in place, and tag ends secured. I'm almost ready to make the 4-mile journey in it to the shop at @#$&.

Tomorrow, I should be able to get the pedal assembly in & fire her up! I'll take her to the shop at work for the wiring of the electronic speedo, b/u light switch, clutch safety switch(in some form), and shifter illumination... which will likely take place early next week. The crossmember tabs should get here by Wednesday from Kert so those can come together shortly after arrival.

I'm still piecing together 1410 drivelines so a trip to a friend's salvage yard is in order. Mississippi Truck Dismantlers is the place. They obviously specialize in trucks as indicated by the name but a buttload of the heavier-duty stuff like 1-ton & 2.5-ton trucks go through there. I hope to go have a look at the driveshaft rack tomorrow during @#$& hours.

I promise to catch you fellas up on pics. I'll get the phone good and charged & take some soon. I have just been running around like a sprayed roach working on this rig. That's how it goes when my old friend wants me out of his shop by 7pm. Once at the @#$& shop, I can slow my roll enough to take pics & sip beers. I can also stay there all night should I choose to. Two hours at a time has began to suck!

"Then" a space***

#242 is an example of how tapaturd is retarded. The pics are vertically inline with the tapaturd app, spacing between the caption/pic groups is perfectly legible, the app sucks. Not me. I've been doing the forum gig for years but not tapaturd. I should also add that tapaturd has evolved from user-friendly to just plain stupid. There used to be no variation between its view and web view in this way. I'm glad you pointed it out.

If it weren't such a PITA to use the PC, I would use it. It becomes an inconvenience to use it when you have to move pics to either PC or web from the phone or stand-alone camera. All-text posts are no biggie but it is far more convenient to just snap pics with the same device that you post with.

Tapaturd has officially burned my @$$. I will be rating it shortly.

:haha:

hey, at least your pic's don't show up turned 90 degrees like everyone else... ;)

A black, tapered sm465 cane arrived today. This is what Martin is trading me for my chrome plated one. Martin's packaging is..... well.... adequate?

I just whipped out the 'ol laptop to have a look-see. Post #207 is FUBAR. I can hardly believe the depth of suckativity with tapatalk. Unreal.
