After reading this thread, what direction should I go?

Problem still isn't solved...cleaning the distributor cap helped...I can punch it without bog...but when I am driving it I feel it sputtering or misfiring while accelerating or especially when pulling a hill. Lets say I am going 50 mph and I spedd up to 60....it sputteres the whole way up to 60 but stops when reach and maintain 60. Seems like it runs smoother also if I pump the pedal some while accelerating?

If pumping the pedal helps, it's not getting enough fuel through the jets. Too lean. Needs jets cleaned or one size up.

Is there any rubber fuel line in your system? Rubber and ethanol do not get along, you would need fuel line specifically capable of dealing with the new fuel. Rubber swells inside and clogs the system.

Maybe I screwed up the fueal / air mix when I adjusted them a while back

That shouldn't be an issue since I buy 100% pure gasoline, no ethanol

The air fuel screws only matter at idle. Under load it should not effect performance.

How do you clean the jets? The carb cleaner didn't do it.....oh and another thing...it seemed to run smoother at first, but as the then engine got hotter like after 20 minutes, it started the sputtering worse

Carb rebuild. Need to clean the ports also. Is the carb getting too hot and boiling the fuel? But that would be a consistent issue once its warmed up.

Guess i will be rebuilding the carburetor

Maybe it only needs new float, needle and seat and accelerator pump

Sitting is the issue. I doubt the float, needle and seat would go this. They just fill the bowl and keep it full. If it idles, the float has not sunk. If you can pump the throttle under load and it runs better, there is enough fuel, so the needle is not stuck closed.

I figured if i drove it enough the gas would clean it out...can you clean the jets out with a needle or wire?

If they have something in them, pushing it through usually makes whatever is in there stick worse. Need to unscrew them and pull them out.

Does that require removing the "air horn" top of the carburetor?
