well i can say this . i had a detroit locker years ago and got tired of the clunk so that was 1 reason i pulled it .
now i have the clunk again but its the doublers extra male / female coupling and gears in the 203 range box like some have said before .
but i will tell you that after pulling that 1 shim out of the 205 idler gear bearing shim pack and removing the play it made a MEGA improvement @ highway speeds . no more gear growling around in the case . and also when i pulled the whole unit i found 1 tiny spot the tripple stick shifter mount spacer tube unit was rubbing the floor pan . so i dented it up and away before it all went back in the truck . wow this thing with no carpet or rubber floor is 98% more quiet inside for sure . the metal to metal contact was making it AMPLIFY threw the whole cab like a stethoscope a dr. uses on us to amplify sound to his ear's .
