Hey slacker I got my M1028 and ready to hit some trails... And your build has been dead for a year now! I would say its about time to see some change before I start using your jimmy for parts

Sincerely your brother.

Yea yea noobs... My truck runs and drives. I even did a little work on it last night and put on my new rancho steering stabilizer.

Hey, this is MY build thread... I don't wanna hear about the parts you put on your junk here. No build thread, no pics, it didn't happen! :haha:

Oh by the way, where is the new welder????? I NEED it to get some stuff done!

 :D

Yep, me and my brother are always competing with our Suburbans, its a natural way of life. Now he is dead set on whooping my roller 454 with his transplanted LQ9 6.0L we shall see. And great build btw, I had an 80 Sub and always loved it till I totaled it on accident.

Alright. Time for some more on this one... It has been sitting in the back of the shop waiting for me to get my hands on a new Mig Welder so I can do some fab work on shock tabs and what not.

A new Hobart 190 arrived the other day and now I am ready. My brother has started his CUCV lift and now I have the itch to get going again.

Updates soon!

Here are some pics of what the CUCV build is like so far (until my brother BUYS A MEMBERSHIP and starts his own build thread!)

Good to see that you and your brother have something it common.

I think my brother drives and Acura or BMW or something like that. We're like total opposites I think.

Well the ole Jimmy is out of the back of the shop and Tuesday night shop night brought some productivity...

Added my front zero rates and pushed axle 1" forward and welded on the lower shock mounts. :thumb: Loving the new welder (Hobart 190)

Next is finishing upper mounts / towers and building bumpstop mounts...

Looking good. I see you reused your old u-bolts looks like. Tisk tisk! :haha:

Is the Hobart 190 a MIG machine? And how about that PSC steering box? What made you go with that one over a stock one from the junkyard? Just curious. I may want to redo my steering one day.

Ya I reused my u bolts. They were never torqued to start, just tightened enough to keep it from moving around. Heard only good stuff about the PSC box and the fact that it is already tapped for hydro assist are some of the reasons I chose it.

Oh and yes the Hobart 190 is a MIG

Yeah I was kind of thinking about going with them too. Do you know if it's a totally new box? I mean a new casting and everything, or is one that they rebuilt and tapped?

Per offroad design:

PSC starts with a picky inspection process for core boxes and combines the necessary used parts with as many brand new Delphi parts as possible for a premium rebuilt steering gear, these are as close to a brand new steering box as you can get. The cases are honed and machined true as well as tested to insure proper flow balance. The reconditioned parts are magnafluxed to check for microscopic cracks. Includes a billet end cap and cover.

I think just about any box is probably pretty good as long as you add hydro assist to it. The box doesn't see a whole lot of stress after that mod. :waytogo:

I had mine rebuilt by them, $ 250.00. They are local for me. Could not be happier with it. They are good guy to do business with. You can send them one to have rebuilt. Their hydro assist system is sweet.

More progress...

Passenger side shock tower is bolted in place.

Still working on notching and reinforcing the driver side shock tower to go around the steering shaft.

Started working on my brake lines for the rear axle.

Bolting down a shock tower just doesn't seem like enough to me. :dunno:
Not, that I'm an expert.
I just overkill everything... :haha:
