For Class 3 are you allowed to move the spring and shackle points on the frame?
Also: I had read through the rules on the SCORE website and thought that it stated the radiator had to remain in the factory location. Did I misread this(the rule book is a bit enigmatic at best) or does there exist a set of accepted, unwritten deviations?
Thanks wade! Hopefully we have it somewhat close and running so we can test it out at KOH some. I could be dreaming about that though.. we'll see. I'm just stoked it's in my garage.I remember this truck. Nice to see it revived. If I was still in So Cal, I would be in to help. I miss desert racing.
The radiator location is not specified. There have been at least three, possibly four sets of rules for Class 3. At one point there was a front travel limit of 15"For Class 3 are you allowed to move the spring and shackle points on the frame?

This was a class 3 Dale White updated and ran in the late 80s I believe and was considered legal for the time, up until recently when savage was the tech inspector you wouldn't get this truck through even if you paid him..
Somehow freaking bronco guys have had the most leniency, they can update an early bronco with ttb coilovers and some even got links!!! Somehow blazers and ramchargers are the bastard children of this class.. while I agree somewhat with the sentiment of starting with the most competitive package, those who have spares on other platforms should also be treated fairly and have the chance to update as well..
I'd compare that likeness to using Coilover and ifs from a Tahoe or Chevy truck.. but then the bronco guys might be mad that they still had to run a solid axle.. so there should in my opinion be some compromise on the rules considering the class is a short wheelbase 4x4, what does it matter how it's sprung? Who cares if everyone runs coilovers.. makes for better racing I think if the trucks have an even ruleset to start with.
@Babaganoosh any help is appreciated man! Once we get into the more labor intesive part of this I'll put a call out.
Maybe some kind of BBQ thrash fest would be cool.
One can only hope the rules are looked at by the new Norman score crew and maybe updated! Brb gonna sacrifice a lamb, 70 virgins and toss some salt and say a prayer for that to happen..
