So im not sure if I missed anything or what. But what is the deal between you guys?

You work on it and get to drive it?

Just curious is all.

Basically the deal was we make the truck run and work better and we get to slap our name on it and use it in media. We also retain the sponsorships and rights to those, meaning if we do well there will be another squarebody of some sort of race-truck. Chris pays for parts and we do the labor.
We're desert guys, we live here it's practically centered here or close to us so our products are very go fast centric.. having this blazer with our suspension on it is huge from a development perspective.. I seriously couldn't think of a better way to test something.
Chris has been extremely open to changes and gives a great perspective from a racer standpoint.
Also all of the contacts we gain because Chris knows everyone, and I mean everyone, is a huge plus for us in this business.
From my perspective if anyone could make out on this deal it would be us who could benefit greatly.

If you race with the average person's checkbook( old term), then you find ways to work with people. Most of us want the same thing, to go fast, and to live to talk about it, without going broke, or losing family over it.
I am happy to provide the platform for Steve and Scott to test. In all of the years that I raced the Blazer, we never did suspension testing before a race. We raced whatever Bilstein and Deaver gave us, with the only changes in between races, so the chance to stage the Blazer, at the edge of the desert for unlimited testing, by people that are as possessed as I am, is unimaginable.

Our only real limit is how fast I can feed the meter. All of them. Wish me luck at work.

Maybe I missed it but how are you putting coilovers and links on, and still staying class 3?

Yes but not a lot of pictures.
Mostly tidying up small stuff, coolant lines have been stripped and painted red again, got motor oil changed, carb dialed enough for it to idle now, turned it around so @retroblazer and @secutright are going to be helping me with the last minute thrash to seal up and paint the rear axle, check leafs and replace a few other odds and ends before it goes to forever be linked.. then it shall be thrashed thoroughly in the Desert as soon as the welds cool. Because just weeks after that it had to be dressed and ready for appearance at the mint.
I talked some smack when I was at furd kingdom Autofab, and one of Moss's underlings was there and Raffo has put up 500$ but we're pretty sure he ain't gonna show.. prob scared...

Well, since the rule change has been taking longer than expected, we've decided it best to leave the truck alone just in case, I also have contacted a few local leaf spring manufacturers just in case our old go to Deaver Spring does not have time to work with us in the short timeline.

We are close to being complete on most items, we've got paint left for the most part. We will be testing it next weekend should we get the shocks and at least the back half painted so we can tie up the rest of the odds and ends.

Update!
Well well, lots has been happening since the last update. Some good some bad, we take as much as we can on the good.
We have had some significant setbacks because of error on the part of unnamed parties, I'll leave it at that. But we have been saved by @retroblazer with his quick thinking.
So with our front axle at Currie to be repaired and a Detroit true trac installed will be picked up Friday morning by myself, Ethel and I will scoot the boot to the high desert to put the axle back into the truck and reassemble it for the 3rd time.. lol I'm getting good at that..
We are still in the process of painting the rest of the chassis and body, some of which may still be tacky at the starting line(hope not).
Engine and rest of dependent systems have been checked and rechecked. We've resealed the rear axle, replaced some brake line. Along with a huge list of other things we found along the way.
The Black Widow mufflers are on with short tail sections and are clamped on just in case the widowmaker is too loud we can adjust accordingly for future races with the larger race venoms should we want to.
Shocks.. well, Bilstein was nice enough to get the oil and seals changed, because of their shop being moved during this process we have shocks that are not any better looking then when we started. Considering the timeline we are very dissatisfied with that result and will be seeking a second try at replating the bodies and replacing any wear parts in these shocks. That's all I am going to say about that. We have a good relationship so making this right should be a non issue.
The east coast guys are driving out in a rental(read racecar) on wed and we'll meet them there. Hopefully somewhere along the line there is some beer drinkin, and some bench racing! That's what I am looking forward to, like minded people all in the same place to do the same thing.. sounds like a giant party to me! 2017 Mint here comes CK5! Which reminds me I need to get steeekers!!

The plan is to put it on a trailer the Wednesday and drive to Vegas on Thursday. Due to cold weather, we will be racing with a white body. The red will have to wait.

Amid the flurry of mechanical prep we've been working on body panels, trying to buff this up as nice as possible with the least amount of wasted time.

I got to removing stickers and adhesive, yay... lol
That was one night.

Sprayed a base coat with a spray can. Only to find out the local tractor supply store ran out of paint..
IMG_1337.JPG
Showed up to Cutright's and he'd already removed most of the ancillary parts and primered the front of the truck.

We're now racing against time. Weather decided to try to screw us, being that we never give up we divised a plan.

Lots of plastic later and jimmy rigging a few things we have a pretty damn stable structure and a makeshift booth for the front of the truck. We're going to heat the garage and paint the doors and fenders in the morning.
Then put the whole truck back together and be racing friday!

Here's a sneak peak at the base of the livery.. as far as we're concerned this is the only sticker that counts :)
