Front leaf spring questions... *Weekend update*

Ultimately its not really that big a deal really but that was a Super Clean truck when you got it Avery, And it just seems like everyones kinda browbeat you into doing whats "cool"

Ehh they are just front fenders. You can trim quite a bit and it barely even change the look of things. If you don't like it you can easily find another set of fenders.

Or you could pay a body shop to open up the fender wells and keep the "stock" lines

were just jealous that you got a nice truck to start with rather then a rusty one.

the truck has to evolve to what your doing with it. so cut it up if it needs it.

So you'd rather I just go out and let the tires beat the heck out of the fenders and at the same time cut up my half way decent TSL's?
I understand where you east coast guys are coming from but you have to understand cutting is better than doing nothing in this situation.

I'm not suggesting you let the tires slam the fenders, actually I think you should get a zero rate and move the axel foward and inch or so.

Funny you mention that... I was sitting there tightening the u-bolts thinking I should have popped a zero rate in there. It would give me that extra inch without going back to the old stiff setup and it would kick it out enough to remove the majority of the rub in the rear.
The only issue I might have is since I don't have x-over yet I would probably run into steering issues.

Let me think about this for a bit....

Totally worth it, its a win-win for everyone ;) :D

I drove it around the block but that's it until I can get to the Ford dealership and order some towers for the front but that probably won't happen until next week.
I'll probably pull the front d-shaft spacer out this weekend and see what I can do about that front leak I showed you on Sunday.

Nice sig quote by the way. :)

I started working on a new shock setup this morning....

I'm using '99-'06 Ford Superduty Cast upper shock mounts.
The stud fits the shocks perfect if you slip out the metal sleeve.

I just have to whack the factory brackets off and figure out where I want to bolt up the new towers.
I'll post more pics when I finish.

Cool, you know I was thinking about the Zero rate thing and not having cross over. I ran it on my 91 K5 1.5" forward with the same drag ling you have and it worked ok it did have bumpsteer of course but not much worse then it was before I moved the axle. I didn't wanna pony up for crossover on the 10-bolt when I was almost ready to put the 60 in

Thanks for the insight... I think I'm going to just run it as is for now. If I hit the fenders a lot on our next trip I'll think about some zero rates.

Uhhh, man you should have spoken up if you wanted them. A couple of them are in one piece but others I cut up as I went to give myself enough room to get the grinder in there.

I noticed a few posts up you commented about removing the front d-shaft spacer. Good. I saw your shaft doesn't have much slack now. You better remove that spacer before you do any excursions anywhere because if you don't and the truck flexes down good, you're gonna shear the t-case adaptor in half or even send the front d-shaft back into the t-case and blow it up.

No lie. I've seen it happen before.
