Got any cool tools lately?

Does this count?
I’ve wanted a good one my entire life. Now that old and grumpy, I just decided to buy it.
Now to find a place to mount it securely.

mounted mine to my garage ceiling and love it. Still keep hose spooled up on the 33g upright craftsman to take outside if need be, but man, nice having this handy up high. Looking to get an electric cord and a LED light as well...

I never used to.
Literally all in a big azz gray plastic flip top box.
REALLY got sick of digging.
So when I got the big tool box I decided to try it. So far organizing them is AWESOME. Lol

Once every few years I will get all my sockets in one drawer and wrenches in another.
But for the past 4 years, I have piles of tools in buckets and boxes and I have on toolset in my car.
Most of the time I am digging through to find the tool I need.
I am just not organized and Once I finish wrenching I have no desire to put things away, or even clean them.

I cannot stand digging for tools from a pile. I put them away at the end of each job at minimum, often I put them away before I reach for the next tool while working in the shop while the box is next to me. Every drawer is labeled, and every tool has a spot in that drawer. Most of my wrenches and sockets get portable trays that I can grab and take with me if needed as well. If friends use my shop/ tools, I ask that they just put them on the workbench when done if they cannot remember where they pulled them from. I would rather put them back, than find them in the wrong spot later.

∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆ This. I can not tolerate a cluttered tool box. And I roll my massively heavy box to where I am working. All of the tools go on rolling carts as they get used. Cleaned and put away each night. The only drawer without an organizer is the hammer drawer. Never found a good rack for them. And I have to many.

I used to waste so much time looking for tools.
I have found that a rolling cart is a good place to set the active job tools down. Let’s me lay out parts and bolts in their own spot and tools stay together. I’ll put it all away after the job is done.
I need to get better about that in other aspects of my life.

Good tools are too expensive not to have some sort of method of inventory. Not having tools at least somewhat organized is the quickest way to lose them because you may not realize you misplaced something or forgotten that you loaned something to someone and they haven’t returned it.

I agree. time spent looking for tools is time wasted, you could of been done sooner. Its pretty easy to spend half your time looking for a tool than actualluy working if you don't put them away every time.

I'll set tools all over the place during a job.

Then after that ones done, or maybe after another small one or two jobs, I'll spend a day listening to music, walking around the shop finding them all and putting them away.

I am not arguing that I am right.
Just a fact that I get tired and just call it a day.
I have multiples of some tools because if I can't find them quick I buy them, then I find them.

I haven't bought a hand tool in a while, but I had a fitting I absolutely could not access with normal sockets, extensions, wrenches, swivels, etc. So I finally bought a crowfoot set. Craftsman sold out so I don't buy craftsman any more since they went to china, all my old craftsman tools are USA made. I looked at gear wrench but they had no detents on a tool that is made for hard to reach places, you know what that means, its falling off in that hard to reach place, and they were made overseas. The Williams or proto units are USA made, but were a ridiculous price for a set. These Tekton units were made in the USA and half the cost of the Williams, and they have a small yet a better grip length than the Gearwrench, plus they have a detent on one side, so you can use a detent if you want but don't have to, and they came with a nice rack for organization.

I'm a fan of Tekton tools. I have the large crows foot set for large hydraulic hoses. I have a few and I like the fit, quality and finish. I'd equate them to maybe Icon or perhaps a little better.
