GsxrMike's build thread...Frostbite 2011 Pictures are in!

driveshaft is done

Here is the rear driveshaft. I got it shortened today. It cost me $100 cash money to have it shortened and to have two new "top of the line" u-joints installed.

got my front zero rates milled

I got my zero rates back from the machinist today. Take a look! I might go down and try to install them tonight but it is late and I have been at a 3 year old's birthday party for the last six hours. At least they had booze.

Well I went down and got the zero rates back in. I don't have everything tight yet but my pinion angle and caster look so much better. All I have to do is:

tighten all bolts
rotate and reweld perches on rear axle
install drive shaft (gotta find the darn yoke straps I picked up at junk yard)
install carb
fill fluid in tranny and tcase

then I can go test drive my baby in 2wd w/o shocks or bumpstops.

With your zero rates tapered like that aren't they gonna bend the head of the bolts since the original holes in the zero rates are now gonna be angled in comparison to the alignment hole in the spring pack?

Yeah I guess. I drilled a second hole in the perch for the spring bolt and I used lock nuts on the zero rate for the original hole. I think it should hold fine. This thing is going to see alot of field driving before it ever hits the road and when it does hit the road it will be a slow two lane country road so it will get plenty of "testing" before I do any real road driving.

I drove her tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am almost in tears....LOL not really but I haven't been this happy since my wedding night! I drove the old girl tonight! Just around in the back yard but that was all I needed! I am going to name her Marathon because she runs so good. I could ramble on for an hour but I will not waste anymore bandwidth with my GLEE! :D:D:D

Now on to the questions::confused:

1. I over filled my transmisson by about 2 quarts I think:doah:...will this be OK until I get a few miles under her belt?

2. I have 3 lines coming from my gas tank. one supply line, one return line, and one vent. Gas is coming out of my vent line. I don't know if it is because it is splashing around in my tank or what. My tank only has a couple/few gallons in it. It is venting out by my fuel pump near my t'case. I didn't think gas would come out of that line like that although it is only a trickle and happens right after I get done driving it....can I tie it in with my other vents and up on to the firewall or should I run it on its own line? Why is gas trickling out of it?

3. How the hell do I fill my t'case? Do they make a hand pump that I can pump it up into the hole? (its a 208)

4. Did I mention how happy I am?:D:D:D

5. Did I tell you guys that you are great and I couldn't do this w/o all of your knowledge and support?:bow::bow:

6. Did you guys know this is my first build ever?:eek1::eek1::eek1:

THANKS AGAIN!!!:bow::bow::bow::bow:

let me know if I should post these questions in thier own thread!

Oh yeah my power steering isn't working and the pump is full? What gives? Do I need a new pump? How hard is that?

I bought in autozone a hand oil push/pull pump. Sucks about a 1/2 quart at a time. Believe me though your arms get quite the workout when you try to fill your 465 with cold 85w140...

Sweet! ATF should be a bit easier. Think they will have one at advance or oreillys? I don't think I have an autozone near me.

To fill my t-case (241), I use the nipple off a gear lube bottle. It spins right on the tranny fluid bottle. Don't over tighten it, it will strip, but it works pretty good. I've also used old dishwashing liquid squirt bottles.

Oh, subscribed!

i use a gear oil screw on cap with a piece of rubber fuel toobing on the end of it. i have about 8-10 inches of fuel hose on then end of the bottle.

Alright thanks guys!

Another question: I broke the vent (the tiny little tube on the upper passenger side) on my tranny! It doesn't feel like there is a fitting or anything I can take out? How can I fix this?

Also does anybody know how I can update the title on this thread?

bummer
and go to the first post and go to advanced edit or whatever. there you can change it.

Here are some pics! One of them is a pic after I backed her out because I thought she looked sexy. One of them is in front of my house in the ditch trying to get an idea of how flexy she will be. The other one is from last night when I was backing her out of my basement. I guess she will have to sit outside once I get my tires on!

Was your pump empty and then you filled it just before you drove it? They can sometimes take a while to bleed all the air out of the system.

Yeah pump was empty and so were the lines so I had to add another 1/2 quart. It is working now but whineing real bad so I need some more fluid. Got the t'case filled, I had to pour the gallon bottle into the quart size bottle and then put the gear oil cap on it. Worked well and was free. I have a couple tranny leaks in the lines going to the cooler and I think the vent so I guess I don't have to worry about the tranny being to full.

Rock Crawling Pics! LOL!!!

Yeah so I am officially a rock crawler! Anyways, all I need is a front driveshaft and two new wheels and I will be offroad. I got my hood on tonight as well as my rear bumper and a 30 day tag so I can go rolling down the STREET! She rides a little sketchy still but what the hell why not! So check out my bad ass rock crawling pics Kansas style! LOL!!!:haha:
