GsxrMike's build thread...Frostbite 2011 Pictures are in!

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the pictures to upload. Damn internet! What I did is I cut the square tubing to the length I wanted at a 45 and the sealed up the bottom with a piece of flat stock. Then I drilled a hole, mounted the bump stop with a nut on the inside. I then sealed up the tappered end with another piece of flat stock. Next I welded it to the mounting plate and painted it. I will post pictures as soon as my computer pulls its head out of its @$$.

Yeah pretty much but I didn't weld the nut. It is a nylon lock nut so I didn't want to melt the nylon. I just stuck the threads of the bump stop through the hole and reached in with socket on an extension to tighten her up. I don't think it will ever come loose but it may snap off because as the axle articulates it comes up and hits it at an angle. Didn't realize this until after I made them. Live and Learn.

I know I'm late on commenting here, but isn't your full pump kind of far away from the tank? I believe they are designed to push fuel not, not pull it. With that in mind I think they should be as close to the tanks as possible.

Small but I thought I would add.

they look pretty stout, i was just wondering how you were going to change the bump stop when the metal piece of it rusts out

Guess I will have to cut the end off the damn thing. Or I could cut a hole in the back side of it to get to the nut. Guess I should have thought about that huh?

hole-saw one side so you can reach the nut - that way you can repair it if it does break off, too...

got my brake lines

I got my brake lines today! I will take some pics after I install them. All stainless steel braided -4 fittings. Any tips on attaching the rear brake lines to the rear axle? I was going to use some 36" zip ties used for flex duct. They are strong as hell and will take lots of abuse and they are cheap.

Brakes done...well almost

So I put all my brake lines on tonight. Busted the last fitting so now I will have to source a new hard line. Lucky it was the shortest one on the rig.

On my rear axle I built tabs that the hard lines went into that I welded to the rear axle. The front I have little bungee cords that hold the lines away from the tire.

mmmmmmmm, nothing looks better than a nice new set of brake lines...!
loooks great, i think i should do up a set...

I got all my lines in including the a new hard line. Brakes are blead, my wife pumped the petal for me...thanks baby! I am going to get my front zero rates milled to correct the pinion angle and caster on the front axle. I've still gotta figure out my draglink situation, get my tranny and tcase linkage hooked up, fluids, and driveshafts and then I can work on the shockes and bumpstops.
