"Hardcore" 89 (Black and Blue). IT RUNS, DRIVES, AND STOPS. BUILD ON HOLD

That front bumper is turning out great. I might have to steal some ideas for my own someday. :)

mountains are blue!!

Well yeah! Can't fab with warm beer :waytogo:

Thanks! Hopefully get it all welded tonight.

I need ideas for a fairlead mount. I don't want to plate in the bottom of the stinger. I may just go with some tabs like I had before.

All welded up! :waytogo:

Got the tabs cut for the fairlead mount. Weld those on tomorrow, maybe a couple light tabs, get it primed and painted, and re install winch.

Hey Brian, I've seen buggy guys bend tube into a fairlead... Looks really good and beefy... Bounce that around you head for a bit and see if you come up with any ideas...

Bumper looks great...:waytogo:

Luey you mean the tube is the actual fairlead, or bend a small hoop to mount the fairlead to?

I may put some #'s in Bend tech to see what I can come up with. Some 1.5" would be better, but all I have is 1.75 right now. I already have a nice Aluminum hawse fairlead. The wife bought it for me so I really should try and use that ya know

They bend tube as the fairlead... If I redo mine I'm going this route... I have rope now, so I can't use a roller and the hawse isn't wide enough to get to the ends of the spool to make it really nice and even when wound...

Yeah I may pick up some 1.5" HREW and try that later. I just welded my old tabs back on for now. Don't really care for the plate steel look in with the tube, but I need my winch for wheeling on Sat.

And to top it off I found out at lunch time today I have night class tonight and tomorrow night. Crunch time..I hope class doesn't go till midnight or I'll be wheeling with a bare steel bumper

All done :waytogo: Minus maybe some light tabs, but thats a easy add on.

drool. :D any idea on how much it weighs? can you install it yourself? Damn nice work, duder! :waytogo:

That bumper turned out nice. Do you have any plans to put a rollcage in it soon?

Scott

Yeah thats next.

Im not sure exactly, but I can pick it up and carry it around pretty easy, and ya I installed it by myself. I would guess no more than 70lbs without the winch.

Latest trail damage from the last trip, and got it in for maintenance finally! Gonna tear the outers up front apart and check all my king-pins and bushings. Prolly gonna change U-joints in my CV's on both driveshafts as well. I discovered some loose T-case adaptor bolts so those need some locktite and new lockwashers. Just a general checkup and a reason to wrench. Maybe take some measurements for some portions of the cage, but no room to bend tubing with this thing inside

Can't tell for sure but it looks like the bumper hardly moved. I see what appears to be a decent scratch on the corner. Not too shabby.:waytogo:

Yeah right on the bend on the driver side where it wraps around I bashed a rock pretty good. Stopped me completely :doah:Apparently there was a log or something sticking out in the same spot. I didn't notice the fender carnage till later in the day :haha:

I came down really hard on the clevis mounts several times trying to climb this ledge and I kept sliding off it backwards. Just chipped the paint off is all. I still plan on plating in the bottom to make it a little more rigid around the frame.

You should definately make a skid plate for the bottom of the bumper so it will slide off stuff instead of getting hung up. My Blazen Off Road bumper has a skid plate thing in the front on the bottom and it also adds strength, I think. Triangulation or whatever. The bumper looks about the same as yours except for that.

Looking at how much damage you've done to the body lately, I think it's time for you to narrow the body in the front and rear. Think how much easier it will be to go down those narrow trails.
