Horton, driveshaft opinions wanted

So went wheeling, not a terribly hard spot to go. Had to get a new rad cap and a new air filter.

Haven't fixed the cage at all. Tried to straighten it out a bit but nothing doing. The high lift we were using was bending. Later that night I tried to rig up using a hydraulic jack, nothing doing. Oh well I was pretty careful.

Heres some pics of the naked front end, my buddies Dad was driving, this is the first time he has been crawling and now he is planning on building one

In that case, Dave and I will consider you trail ready for 2014.:D

:saweet::saweet: yah man, wheeled the whole day.

I did break a centering pin on the front leaf and bent a rear leaf.

This leaf spring thing is getting old

Ditch 'em already! :D

So how many minutes did it take him to move those 3 feet between the pictures? :waytogo:

Went wheeling again.

I need to stop wheeling or I am not going to change anything on the truck except for the steering. Full hydro and even though I can't tuck it as far up as I want. I would say I don't wanna sound like I am bragging but I am, Horton just plain works, why muck it up

Great day of wheeling. Took our time messed around. I let my buddies Mom and Dad drive Horton. The plans for their rockcrawler I am pretty sure are set in stone now:D Nothing like bringing a couple more folks into the sport :thumb:

So you can take Horton wheeling in ID but not Moab :dunno:

Yep cause thats 7 miles from my house, Moab is 454 a touch different

So are you still coming toBB? Bringing the family?

No finances have put a damper on my fun this year. Local wheeling is all for me this year.

Had it all figured out to come with Chris ( 2insane) but he drives truck and his boss couldn't get him home in time to go

Thats to bad. Tell bailey stella will miss her. I brought plenty of glow bracelets for the bbq this yea! You're guys will be missed this weekend

Bailey is pretty bummed about it, but you know how things go. When I tell her you bought extra glow bracelets for her she will be even more bummed but it is what it is.

When are you guys coming up here for a weekend of wheeling Scott? Its great fun. Hard on tires but great wheeling. Plus we could hit the dunes

Looking at these pics, which are awesome but a bummer btw, it occurred to me at least no one grabbed the outer or roof bars and got some fingers in a serious state of ripped off. Iv heard of that many times, and people impaling themselves on t-case levers with no knobs, at least no one got hurt, and the blazer will live to see another day. On a side note, its stuff like that that makes me wish i lived closer to out there, southern ILL is mud, mud, and sometimes mud with dirt mixed in, you guys get all the fun stuff. :waytogo:

My passenger was instructed to hold onto her shoulder harnesses, and we both had all of our harnesses on. So the lap belt and both shoulder harnesses. They were pulled tighter than normal too.

Anyone from CK5 is welcome at my house anytime. :D Just need a little notice to make sure Horton is up and running. Don't have alot of extra room but a little.

And yes Horton will live on with just a couple changes.

My sub would fall apart if she seen that behavior, the steepest incline it drives up is the trailer to the mudbogs... Haha, finally i managed to get permission for some old coal mine property that has some pretty steep hills, runouts and such, nothing like all that, but if we tip over its basically extremely fine sand that stains everything and turns anything black, makes black even blacker. Its so much fun, but like i said, its still mostly mud out there too, i managed to do the exact opposite of what i was told to and sank it into a old sludge dumping pit, and for those that know, thats all bad, it ended up sitting in there with water over the tranny hump for 6 weeks. HUGE bummer, ruined the entire interior. And its 12in lift with 40s, so it wasnt a parking lot puddle. Took a track-hoe that broke a track off, an 8wd John Deere cabover, an 6wd International, and finally a 04 2500HD with an 8.1L and about 6hrs the last day to extract it and put it on the trailer, all while being about 20degrees out. Wonderful times

New stuff to follow soon. Got a set of gears to do. Rebuild a sami rearend.
Then 2 cages. Hortons cage to follow.

Look at all the tube mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Ummmm no

This is the tube I have been saving up for, since I rolled Horton 10 sticks for me, 3 sticks for another guy and 10 sticks for another guy.

I realistically have about 11 sticks to play with on my cage, because I can guy the sticks from one of the other guys if we don't use em all

That seems like a lot of sticks. Are you starting clean with Horton? I only used 7 sticks for my exo and front end. 1 1/3"? DOM or HREW?

edit 1 3/4"

Its reasonably possible I may cut the back of the frame off, maybe.

Also if I have extra it will go to bumpers for the Jimmy, or a cage for the Jimmy, yah probably a cage for the Jimmy.

I used 7 sticks with the front in my original cage but plan to use tubes from Horton to help out with the smaller pieces
